I am new, but returning shopper as I was a mystery shopper back in 2001. I have been trying to sign up with as many companies as possible and I cam across shadowshopper. I read where some of you recommended using them. Then today I found it they are a scam and once you sign up they continue to charge your credit card and you can't get them to stop. Please tell me what you know about this company and if anyone has used it.

There are a lot of folks who have used it and a lot of folks who have decided not to but their credit cards or bank accounts have been charged anyway. The chances of you getting a charge backed out are slim, especially if you did not go to their website and cancel. You can always try to get the charge denied by going through your credit card, but if you did not cancel in time you will probably get to pay the charge for their "services". Since it is nothing more than a referral site for jobs and companies you can find on your own it is really up to you whether you need that level of guidance or can use the company list on a site such as this and go to Jobslinger.com (100% free) or the job boards on this and other forums and the job boards of the companies themselves.

I used Shadow shopper for a year. I got many leads from them. One of the best was an introduction to "merchandising." I do merchandising almost exclusively now and very littly mystery shopping. The pay is better and the paperwork is much easier. If memory serves me correctly I paid them $100.00 for a years subscription. I was never charged anything else and to me it was money well spent.

We also have taken an educated guess that ShadowShopper has been selling its email list to mystery shopping scammers. See a previous thread regarding this.

I just signed up this month with them. I got a deal for 4.99 for gold for one month. I have to cancel by the 21st as it renews the 22nd. I got one great paying job ($30 per store) for a game card reload for 8 stores. More than made up for the 4.99. I wont be keeping it, but I figured since I desperately needed the cash right now I would test out for that. Worked for me on that one thing, but everything else I already knew of and was signed up for. But I also got a $50 amusement advantage gig that way that I never would have logged in to see using their system-I hate that, "A scheduler has posted something in your area" email they send. Its usually the zoo, and that one is not worth my time to even log in for...

Thank you,. Mert. We figured out that since legit MSP's don't sell email lists, the scams have to come from a shady company. . The only shady shopping company I've ever signed up with was SS, long ago. I use that email address only with shopping companies, and I don't get those scams at my other 4 addresses. Then we did a non-scientific survey of shoppers who had received said scams, and all were signed up at SS.
SS has legit shops, and many people get good leads from them, but their business practices are execrable. There's a previous thread here about their continued charging of credit cards after cancellation.

Re: the AA gig--you're lucky with Amuse Adv. . We have over 1000 museums in this area, 3 zoos, 2 botanical gardens, etc. The only thing AA ever emails me is a video game arcade. BOO-HISS!

Usually they only send me the zoo-I am so not interested in a 5 hours zoo shop! I don't think our musuems, or even our waterpark, are shopped.

I signed up with them using a "virtual card" through Citibank which I closed after the charge appeared. To date, I have not found much more than what I am already signed up for. Most jobs are already taken by the time I logon to see them.
