Private Message

I was trying to send a private message to the forum moderator and I am told that I don't have the priviledge to send private messgages. Is there a way to get a approval to do so? Thank you in advance!

I don't know, but I suspect your PM gets turned on after a certain number of posts. We were having issues with folks getting spam from 'registered members' who had never posted and were just using the PMs as an opportunity to spam. My guess is that this is the solution established to end that abuse.
That's interesting. It would have to be something that's happened in the last six months. (I PMed someone at a time when I'd never made a post.)

But, my question is, how is the original poster trying to send a PM to the forum moderator? I wouldn't have a clue as to how to even try to do that. Click the 'report' button, yes. But send a PM to someone whose screen name I don't know? Is there something that I'm overlooking?

So, my point is that possibly the original poster is trying to do something that the forum software isn't programmed to do, and it's giving an all-purpose response that isn't as illuminating as it should be. That happens often, with software.

I'm surprised you didn't know the owner is JacobJsmiling smiley. You have to contact him for things like changing your username.

I'm confused. Were you responding to my post, or the OP?

If it was me, I did know that the owner is JacobJ.
Yup and obviously I was confused. I read owner where you wrote moderatorsad smiley

I was right! I was right! I was right! I was right!

Wow--talk about a good guess. I'm going to have a sprained shoulder from patting myself on the back.

Okay, I started by opening the form to send LisaSTL a PM. Then, I erased her name, and typed in Moderator. I got a message that I have to name a recipient. Okay, not what I'm looking for.

Then......I typed in 'Forum Moderator' in the space where the name goes.

Here's the error message

"The user you want to send a message to is not approved to use the private message system"

So, the OP got it backwards. I'm sure that it's the same message, but it's actually saying that "Forum Moderator" isn't approved to use the PM system. winking smiley

I should go and sign up for more MSCs, instead of goofing around here. D)
I'm sure the owner of this website could serve as a moderator, or at least forward the question to one, so you could send a message to him. As was previously stated, his forum name is JacobJ and he is the author of several threads that are stickied at the top (to help you find his name easier).

I'm with Ishmael, and suggest Harlenna use the Report function at the bottom of the post in question, rather than PM.
How would you even send a PM to the moderator? We don't know his/her screen name. As far as I know, the "report" button at the bottom of each post is the only way to reach the moderator.

A couple of posts above I gave my theory as to what happened. It produces an error message almost identical to what the original poster reported, far too close to be a coincidence.
Harlenna, did you send your PM to JacobJ? Or did you, as Ishmael posits, send it to "Forum Moderator"?

If you haven't already, try sending it to JacobJ and let us know how that goes for you.

You could also try posting whatever your issue is here, and see if any of us could help you.

Or, we will savage your guts out, cast aspersions, or other to be named horrors that I just haven't thought of as yet..
Or, maybe not. Spin the wheel, take a chance.

Ha! Is that a dare to the OP to post her issue here?
