Shopping in the Rain

So today I have of those shops where I am supposed to passively shop the outside parking lot to see how long until someone approaches me.

Here is the problem - Heavy Rain including thunderstorms scheduled ALL day

My question -couldn't walking around a parking lot in the pouring rain looking at cars give me a way as a mystery shopper? Would a real shopper really do this?

Any advice?

I'd call the scheduler. They may want to reschedule, or they may want to change the guidelines for this particular shop.

I'm with MDavis... I'd contact the MSC because I think you're right ~ that would look way too odd.

I live in an area that rarely gets snow, and when we got half a foot it was substantial for what we're used to. I had a shop at a grocery warehouse type place. I contacted the scheduler and told her that while I had someone who could drive me in the snow, it would look *really* odd for someone to go to a place like that (where you don't just get the quick milk and eggs type stuff) and then just get the $20 worth of stuff they reimburse, with the weather situation. Especially since they're a smaller place, with only three checkstands and each customer gets noticed. She agreed and rescheduled me. smiling smiley

I'm deciding whether or not to work in the heavy smoke of a wildfire or wait for the afternoon rain and thunderstorms today for my outside shops. I am leaning towards getting wet and wild. The smoke has been bothering my eyes and lungs just walking outside for a brief period of time this morning. Once the rain comes, it could help put out the fire and clear the air.

I've had MSCs be happy to reschedule shops for the exact same reason as the OP. You are right it doesn't look natural and puts the sales associate in the difficult position of either walking around in a storm with you or getting dinged for staying safe.
