Hello Val, I see this is your first post on the forum. Welcome. At the bottom of each page of the forum you will see a link to a list of mystery shopping companies. Start signing up with those companies. I suggest you first sign up with Maritz, Bare, Market Force, and BestMark. I am suggesting those companies because they have a great deal of work nationwide. It will require a time commitment but you should sign up with a minimum of 100 companies. You will then be able to log on to their job boards and apply for shops. Eventually they will send you emails when they have something in your area and you will not have to spend so much time checking the boards. After you are signed up with the companies, you will be able to take their tutorials and that will help you get started. Also, go to the New Mystery Shopper section of this forum and read the first several threads all the way through. Spend as much time as possible reading threads that interest you on the forum.

I am new as well. I have done open movie checks and a few demo's. Is this type of work considered mystery shopping? Or am I'm being misled? Anyway I sure could use some tips on how to get more jobs. I just found this site today. I plan on reading as much as I can to help me progress. Any extra tips would be greatly appreciated.
Open movie checks and demos are usually called merchandising. There is a thread for merchandising on here as well. However, some mystery shopping companies will have this type of work listed along with their regular shops.

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.
Thanks for the clarification. The more I read the more informed I'm becoming. I can say I enjoy demo's and although open movie checks require long days I also enjoy doing them. The pay is good for the movie checks. And the company I work for pays promptly. Unlike the company I do demo's for. I have to wait a month for my money. But on the up side the company is extremely easy to work for. That's a big plus in my book. I must say that some of the posts I've been reading about Mystery Shopping companies has me a little concerned. By that I mean the way some find a lame excuse to just let someone go. I'll continue to sign up with a few companies and see what comes my way.

Just a heads up - on average, you won't receive your MS payments until about a month later.
Merchandising is the term given to 'demo' work. It has a separate section on the forum.
