Beginners at mystery shopping

Hello. I am quite interested in mystery shopping. The only thing is (1) I don't have any way of getting around, and (2) I'm interested in the phone interviewing jobs. Any comments on this or helpful advice?

Welcome to the forum. You are actually asking your question where it will get fairly little response as merchandising is a bit different than mystery shopping.

Without reliable transportation you will have a great deal of problems finding enough reasonable work to keep you busy. There is a company that routinely has $5 phone shops to funeral homes, there are other companies that have occasional phone shops. You will need to register with a number of companies to see what you can find offered.

Here is the basic problem, however. I have transportation but would just as soon stay at home in my jammies making phone calls rather than burning gas if the shop pays reasonably for the work involved. I have nationwide phone service with no long distance charges. So you will be competing with me and with any other shoppers throughout the country who want those shops.
Do you live in a large city or somewhere with reliable public transportation? How do you get around on a normal life-basis?

Joan,
I see jobs all over Deleware and in nearby PA. How many MSCs (Mystery Shopping Companies) are you signed up with? If fewer than 75, that is probably the problem.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
The phone shops don't pay enough to really make any money. I think you might do better if you look for a different type of stay at home shops. Maybe scheduling or editing, but I would think you would need experience shopping first.
