new shopper tips

Hi everyone. I'm a new MS. I really would like advise on how to time during mystery shops without being noticed. Also remembering names. I would really use some advise on this too--thanks everyone.

I use my smart phone to make notes. It has a timer (in the Clock App on most phones) that will time something down to the hundredth of a second, and you can start and stop the timer and type notes to yourself and just look like you're addicted to texting like everyone else in the world. Good luck!

I just started using a phone app called Shopit. You can do everything on one page - take notes, take pictures, record times - and the screen looks like a texting app. To record a time, you just tap the screen, so you can time something very unobtrusively. I think i it cost $1.99.
Hi. I've been mystery shopping for a couple months now. I like doing it, but am not very technical. Can anyone tell me how to make a picture 640x480 pixels. Maritz requires this and I have no clue how to do it. Thanks for your help.
hopey, the best option is to set your camera to shoot at 640 x 480. Most cameras can be set. If you don't know how, start a thread on how to set such and such a camera to shoot at 640 x 480 and someone will hop on there and help you out if it can be done.

Hello everyone I am new to this MS and I have no idea how it works yet. I guess I will figure
it out soon.
If I can't text or time myself without being obvious, I'll just record the conversation. Different states have different laws about this but in my state, it's legal. This also helps for noting exact quotes in the report. With fast food shops though I'll usually use my stop watch and just tap the time when I'm grabbing money out of my purse.

How do you know if it's legal to record in your state?

Hopey, Read this thread for help on knowing if your state is ok for audio recording: [www.mysteryshopforum.com]

Also, you may want to read the rest of the threads at the top of this new shopper section as there is a lot of information there about how to get started.
