Becoming a serious shopper

Hi everyone!

So I did my first shop last month, and I am waiting for a reimbursement. I have since discovered other types of shops and other companies, and I want to make shopping a serious gig of mine during the day.

Any suggestions? Thanks. smiling smiley

Check the job boards of the companies you are already registered with on a frequent basis to see if/when they post work in your area. Try a shop and see how the company works out for you. If the company seems to work out for you, try other shops. Start building how many shops you 'know' so you can be doing multiple shops on each outing. When you don't see any shops, add another company or two to the mix. As you read comments on the forum about companies other shoppers like, register with them. Keep good records.
On any day when you wish you had a shop or two but do not, sign up with 5 more companies. Serious shoppers end up signed up with 100-150 or more.

Even if a serious shopper works for only 5-10 MSCs per month, those change from month to month. I work for 20-25 per year, but those also change. And, MSCs that have not had a shop that interested me for years suddenly turn up with shops/client that I really love!

Find a niche. Everybody has different levels of comfort with different types of shops and write-ups. Once you find where you are comfortable, explore similar shops with various MSC's.... Plan your days to maximize profit and minimize fuel costs....Do really good work and be very professional with the schedulers. This will make it easier for you to ask for a little more money when requesting shops.

What does MSC mean is that a company?

Mystery Shopping Company. It is the company that puts together the shops, hires the shoppers, amalgamates the findings for the client in whatever form agreed to and pays the shoppers. It is also frequently referred to as the MSP or Mystery Shop Provider.

Edited to add - it is not just one company, it is any of the companies you register with to perform shops.

Food for thought. Pretty much all of us are serious shoppers. Part or full time, supplemental or all income, the first step to success is taking this seriously.
