Hi everyone, I am new to Mystery shopping

I live in Norther California and thought I try out Mystery Shopping after a friend of mine recommended it about a year ago.
I signed up with the following companies:

- second to none: so far have done two shops for them, pending at the moment.
- iSecretShop, no shops done so far
- BestMark, no shops at the moment
- I did also join GFK but after reading through some of the comments here, I have inactivated my account.

I have a full time job in the legal field and want to earn some extra money. One of my cats was diagnosed with Lymphoma and he is currently going through Chemo. Even though this won't make me rich, but it allows me to make some extra money on my time.

I hope I will get some useful info from your forum and be able to do this for a while.
Any feedback or recommend Mystery Shopping Companies anyone recommends, are welcome.

Keep signing up with different companies!! I'm up to 50, but only shop 15 right now. My goal is to sign up for all of them, as long as they pay and aren't too nuts with the paperwork. I threatened to quit Confero because of an editor!! Other than that, I'm doing well!

Hello All,

I am relatively new to secret shopping and I'm beginning to wonder if I have managed to start off by doing work for an illegitimate company. I have done numerous shops for Phantom Shoppers but cannot find this company on the list here on the forum. Does anyone know anything about this company? I began July 2 and have yet to hear anything about reimbursement and/or payment.

I'd appreciate hearing from those who know anything about Phantom Shoppers and really hope I haven't been burned!

Phantom Shoppers is a new one for me so I took a quick look around the forum and internet. I found a website and some hints of a small company that has had payment issues with shoppers. It definitely does not have the look of the traditional scam that falsely uses the name of a legitimate company when sending you a check and asking you to deposit the check and send them much of it while keeping a portion for yourself.

If you would, keep us updated on your experiences.

Phantom Shoppers is a legit company. In my area, they only do somewhat high-end restaurants. I have received "10" on my reports. They are reimbursement only and sometimes it is hard to stay under the $100.00 reimbursement. If you go over, it is on your dime. They have taken between 57 days to 66 days to pay me; They pay by check. I have not worked for them since 2013 so I am unaware of any recent payment issues.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm fast approaching 66 days so I should be receiving a check soon. I'll report on my experiences with them as the saga unfolds and hope it will be positive.

Not sure if this helps but I tried to stay away from any MSC not willing to pay within 40 days. I just don't want to have to babysit them. All of us work hard and MSC’s not paying in a timely fashion is in my opinion is not a good company. Do your research before signing up for so many. Our time is valuable just like theirs.

@ BayLee ~ That is why you need to keep great records. Many shoppers use Excel or a variation of it like Mystery Shopping Bible or the spreadsheet under the New Members area. I believe it was created by longtime member, Flash.

With one click of the filter button, I can clearly see what money is still owed to me. Many of my best shops take longer than 40 days to pay. I like having the variations in pay schedules. This way I always have money coming in.

That is what I used and I have added some more fields to it. I like it a lot and thank Flash greatly for the awesome tool that has been provided to us :-).
It is important to know what has been accomplished and stay on track, especially when it comes to paying taxes.
