Newbee Questions

Hello Everyone! I'm brand new to this. Just finished my (silver?) certification so I guess that enables me to do phone shops now. Do I need to do any further "certification" to do site visits? Also, I requested a couple of phone shops through Baird. Any suggestion what other company I should reach out to next? There's so many! Thanks,

I'm still learning 24/7.
Baird is a great company to work with. You will get great experience writing detailed reports for them. By all means, reach out to them if you need their editors to explain any comments or corrections that they may ask for. You will get very detailed instructions. The thing to know about their reports is that they are atypical; most similar jibs do not ask for how something made you feel. Theirs specifically do ask that.

Also, remember that their phone shops are stepping stones to their better paid site visits.

As for certification, the Baird certification for phone shops is unique to their company. You do not need any certifications to do other companies' site visits, although some may want you to pass a test regarding the specific job for which you have applied.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I am a newbie at this, but I have worked in 2 large restaurants that gave me a lot of experience on what is right or wrong. I was hostess and in charge of stations. I really would like this job.

Hi Rhonda. We don't have jobs here but we have a lot of information about shopping and how to do it. There's a list of companies at the bottom of the page. To find work, you will first have to sign up on line with companies and be accepted by them as a shopper.

Welcome to mystery shopping and this forum. Regarding certifications, almost no onsite visit requires any certification. You will be eligible to complete onsite shops, simply by virtue of applying on the MSC websites. I would start applying with companies which have a nationwide presence ~ MarketForce, Maritz, Bare, Stericycle, North Fork Research, EPMS has apartment shops which can be challenging at first, Pinnacle has bank shops, Sinclair has some auto dealerships, banks and fast food. Some of these MSCs have specific testing on their own sites, but none of these require MSPA certification.

Good luck going forward! Share your experiences, and ask any questions, with the forum members.

I do not have any certifications and have completed over 500 shops which included high-end hotels, restaurants, spas, entertainment, etc. Aim high and have fun!
