DVD Merchandising??????

I think I would like to do merchandising of DVDs that I see available in some stores. Does anyone know the company that does this?

We have relatively few shoppers overall who also do merchandising except as it occasionally is done with mystery shopping companies. I would suggest that you check NARMS.com for merchandising opportunities.
DVDs change hands.... When I went in years ago for Certified I had to sign in as some other company, on behalf of Sony. Narms is the best way to go because what is true for one area or chain of stores will not apply elsewhere.
Market Force's purple portal has many dvd merchandising jobs, but they don't pay enough to even buy the gas.
I have done market force DVD merchandising I enjoyed the job. I live close enough to a major city. I am able to do quite a few jobs.
I have a DVD kiosk that I service each week. I am classified as an independent contractor and get $17 per visit. The visits typically take anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes. The company that I work with is called DVDXpress, and I know they are nationwide. If there are DVDXpress kiosks in grocery stores near you, and this may be of interest to you, call the number posted on the kiosk--it's for both customers and merchandisers.
You can look for jobs on the Redbox site. NMR is out of business. Focus on servicing is a new company and they are taking over some if not all of the accounts serviced by NMR. MarketForce pay is low, but if you live in an area where they need work you can get a higher rate.
be careful who you work for. not all companies are equal!!! nmr is not doing dvds anymore. it is a new company.
If you get the Sony assignment in a Dollar General, there might be a second DVD company in there, and you will wind up organizing their display just to separate the two. A few years ago, I worked for both merchandising companies but their schedules for DVD's never matched and I still wound up organizing one in order to count the other. I later gave it up because I didn't like the idea of being a promoter of R-rated films. That is the beauty of being an independent contractor. You can take only those assignments you want to do. If it is too hard for you or if the product offends you, you can say no.
I looked up DVDXpress and found their website but it was just for reserving movings at their kiosks. How do you apply to work for them? Also, would you guys be willing to share website addresses? I've Googled some of the names that have been given and can't always find the website for the company named. Thanks.
I too have been servicing the Dollar General DVD's (Sony, white labels) and have had to completely service the 'black' labels to get an accurate count for my own assignment. Therefore, I have been working for free on Black Label dvd's. Does anyone have any idea who is the merchandising arm for these in Northern Michigan?
I got my first assignment this past week for Sony DVDs. I was then called and told I was not qualified to do them and they were taken away. Now as background, I am semiretired CPA and former US Treasury auditor that handled financial company compliance examinations for compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act. I was told I should do a handful of balloon blow ups to prove myself then reapply. For an $8 job. Really? Are these infamous planogram that hard to comprehend? Purple portal......I mean what are you thinking? Thanks for the vent. Does anyone know of a reasonable merchandising company that services Central and Southern NY and might be interested in CPA that is interested in helping them out for way less than minimum wage? Thank you.

Any help is appreciated. smiling smiley
crbfrmnewyork -- You're probably better off not working for them. They are notorious for removing people from their roster without notice. They removed me after I told them the manager wouldn't allow me to go do a sunglass visit because they were preparing for a huge Veteran's Day sale. Next thing I knew, I couldn't log into their portabl because I was removed from their roster. About a year and a half later, I finally decided to find out why and was told they couldn't verify what I said. The time between reporting the above and not being able to get back into the portal was such a small amount of time that there is no way they even tried to verify what I reported.

Go to NARMS.com. It's an organization for merchandising companies and they post jobs through the NARMS job board. You can sign up and then you'll get notifications of job openings you can apply for. I also work for a couple of merchandising companies. One, which I posted about, I won't recommend because I think they're in a lot of trouble through mismanaging two new huge contracts However, Retail Detail Merchandising is a good company to work for. They may not have a lot of work right now but I got a lot of work through them in January and they may have work coming up I don't know about.
Thanks for replying. Did your problem with the merchandising side of MF create any problems with the MS side, if you do shops for them? Thanks again for the information.

The two sides of MF seem to work fairly independently of each other. I wouldn't worry too much about what happens on the purple side impacting the blue side

My experience with DVD merchandising is up there with gift card resets. Run!
There are so many better merchandising options out there.

Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just forget to load the film.

BORING! I did not enjoy it...not my cup of tea...and card resets just as horrible.
I tried merchandising DVD's for Focus on Service, if that's what merchandising is all about I say to hell with it. They apparently removed me from the roster and won't communicate in any way at all. I don't need the aggravation.

I have been merchandising for about 10 years and I find DVD's very boring - don't really see the point of the assignments!
Especially when you have to set things up in a certain order and have someone come along and deliberately mess up the display before you can even snap it's photo. They guy laughed about it and boogied away.

TNG used to do DVD's..but lost contract at stores...Ingram Entertainment.

It is a dying and boring business....too much competition and not enough sales!!!

Movies U Buy...convenience stores..and dollar stores...not selling.

Sony-Market Force-Dollar General...but sales are down and losing interest..

Hope that helps!!

When I took a good look at the movies I had to set up I was not in the least bit surprised that they didn't sell from one month to another.
