Gigwalk

I just noticed Gigwalk is offering merchandising assignments. I wouldn't do them for the money offered, but if you are in the store anyway, it might make sense for the $6.

Could be. Problem is, it often takes quite some time to get approved. When I first got GW, I was in a Walmart and thought I'd snag a gig since I was there. The app said I'd hear back within an hour. Five hours later I was approved. I had to make a trip back to the store the next day. Ri Offers jobs through GW, but they are often underpaid. Also, they do not monitor the chat/messaging so you get no support while in the field.

Having said all that, I've had some nice little gigs through the app. Just plan ahead.
They are excellent since there is zero paperwork. As for paying quick when is the last time you got paid from a regular shopping
company in the same day, or week for that matter. Patience folks!
i recently tried gigwalk, waited a full day before i got any change in my status and was 'not approved' so I assume they are waiting for someone else to do it since I've never done anything for them. - I was willing to give it a try.
Just downloaded the app...thanks for the info about how long it takes to get approval. I'm hoping to find some gigs to supplement my income since one of my current merchandising companies lost their sunglasses contract.
Just downloaded the app and got approved. Thanks so much, I could have used this while out shopping and made like 50.00 this week. Awesome share

Floating around like a feather hoping the wind will set me down somewhere awesome.
I did some assignments but couldn't figure out how to upload photos from my cell phone. I went to the cell phone store and asked. It still didn't work. I am accustomed to uploading from my digital camera. I guess I need to practice until I know how before accepting any more Gigwalk or similar assignments.
Sandra it will ask add new or existing pic.... it will take you to it and upload. Gig has support, try them too.. Once you get it , it is super simple.
I just signed up for this. All of the photo assignments required downloading a separate app to use, so I think it would be simple since it is set up for that. I found this old blog about it: [www.theawl.com]

I was glad to see other jobs for audits, shelf-talkers, etc. I'm not into photography, so getting a good panoramic shot would stress me out!

Gigi walk not eorth it i toik 6 kibs only got paid ny 3 they jip me the othe

t 4 jobs i did ivnevet got paid fir then
Kind of hard to understand your post castapasta. I have done several gigs for Gigwalk. I have been paid for all of them
I already asked Gigwalk, but no response yet.

I was in the middle of doing a gig and the app crashed. I got some error messages, so the app wouldn't load and said it was not connected to the internet. It had been when I started the gig. I was able to successfully use google to search the web and shopkick was able to identify where I was and give me location points, so am fairly certain it is on their end. When I was out in the parking lot, I attempted to reengage the app just in case it was a weak signal in the store.

I attempt to finish it once I get home, as I acquired all the pictures and saved it on my phone, but when I open the app at home I get a message that I'm more than 5 miles away from the location, so I have to get closer in order to finish it.

Since the store is 15 miles one way from my house I don't want to have to make an extra trip out there to finish answering a few questions, but just was wondering how Gigwalk was with making accommodations for submitting afterward.
For those doing Gigwalk, there is a Facebook group that is very helpful at understanding what to do if you have problems. Almost everyone on there is very helpful.
The Android version of Gigwalk appeared towards the end of last summer, and all the Android users who'd been waiting over a year for this breathed a sign of relief.

Sad to say, my experience has been disappointing. As originally released for iPhone in 2010 (and it was very briefly available for Android back in 2012, it worked on an opportunistic basis in that you could claim a gig and do it just because you were in the area. Any approval or disapproval was exercised only with respect to the finished work. Gigwalk 2.0 is an entirely different animal, and this is one reason the Android users had to wait so long. It's now necessary to be approved to *do* the gig at all, just like you would have to at a traditional temp agency. You have to apply, stating in 140 characters why you're a perfect fit for the gig, without necessarily knowing what kind of business it is. I have applied for many gigs, but withdrawn from most, due to not being selected or otherwise notified in time for me to plan my schedule on the day when the gig was actually due.

Nearly everybody says they hate the Photosynth gigs, but those are only available on iPhones. What's left for Android is skewed very heavily towards merchandising and stock handling in exurban big-box retailers (read Walmart) who are looking for a cheap way to get someone to stock and audit their shelves. Read the Google Play Store reviews, and you see many variations on "I live in the middle of LA/Manhattan/SF/Chicago but all the gigs are at least 30 miles away in small towns!" I can't help thinking that there's a business reason for this--the exurban retailers use GW to get you to spend the time and gas to drive all the way out to their site, and then *maybe* pay you on a piecemeal basis--instead of having their own merchandising staff driving around in company trucks, receiving a steady wage.

So, it's totally not about snapping a picture of the coffeeshop menu while you sip your latte, or about photographing the offerings of Pinot Noir while you're grabbing a couple bottles to serve your guests tonight. And it's certainly not about earning a few bucks while you walk. Gigwalk is a misnomer: it should be Gig-Drive, or Gig-top-off-your-tank-before-hitting-the-road-to-get-to-the-client.

it's about doing grunt work in places that are likely many miles from where you live.

There are other types of gigs, including business audits where you have to call them up and ask a few questions about their services, check out the website, and write reviews. You also will very occasionally find static display audits--basically take pictures of certain supermarket displays and answer some questions, but you don't have to haul stock out of the stockroom or arrange it yourself. I've done a few of each, and found them to be well worth the time and effort.

Honestly, I thought a lot of the gigs would be based on someone needing a picture of something where you happen to be, right now this minute. I never expected that something like that would be worth $12 or $20. Rather, I thought it would be like a buck or two for something like that, but that such gigs would be much, much easier to get.

I agree completely. All I am seeing is merchandising work that I would never do for the price they are offering! Example: rotate and bring stock out of the back room for a food item, pull outdated or damaged product and give it to the returns clerk. They want this done every 2 weeks for $6.00 a visit. I was traveling all over the state and these were the types of offers I received no matter where my location was, just in another city. Nope, I guess it's time to clean out programs I won't be using from my phone.

If you don't mind the photosynth jobs, though, there always seem to be a great many of those for iPhone users. I'd consider an iPhone next time just for this reason.
This business is not easy to get into at least not for me. I have made it through the first interview with two companies. Then told next manager will contact me. They never do what is up with that. I have one company that hired me as a temp, but I never get anything. I have another that gives me one half hour a month. The only reason I do that is in hopes that something bigger will happen. I understand a background check is necessary, but what the heck. Any advice would be most helpful.
I checked it before heading in for some other work at a Walmart. There wasn't anything for that store, but there were tons of photos for things in the area and a few $12 audits that seemed worthwhile......if I was 20 miles in another direction. Someone who liked the photo part *perhaps* could have made about $50 going around and getting all the photos at once. I just don't have experience with how fast they accept you.

I'm not sure exactly what "is not easy to get into". Are you talking about merchandising? If so, PM, please.

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
Snorklebutt, head on over to sasrlink.com and set up a profile. They are more or less a temp to hire with one time projects and occasional regular employment. If you are able to pick up some of these shifts it might lead to more work.

Some of the easiest jobs to break into are for greeting cards, magazines and books. They usually do not require much experience.

Also, check out Advantage or Acosta for their project team jobs, they frequently have openings and are the easiest ways to get a foot in the door at these two companies with little experience.

Good luck
After looking more into Gigwalk, I'm really not fond of their pay rates at all myself. I guess some folks might do it who don't know any better, but I'd rather not mess with it.
I downloaded GW and did a "gig" and got paid straight away. It had me excited but that was the only one near me that I could afford to do. They offered a route for several WM audits but when you clicked on it didn't take you to the screen to except it. I finally got pissy and took it off my phone.

Shopping Central PA now..
I just let Gigwalk know that I would no longer be doing any work for them. I recently took two gigs with them. In both cases there were problems at the location that made it impossible to complete the work. I sent numerous messages through the app asking clarification questions and requesting instructions. These were ignored and I was removed from the gigs when the time frame expired. After the first instance, I sent a message through Gigwalk's support website and they indicated that they were working on the communication problem and they paid me for the gig because the company terminated it. They did not fix the hit on my contractor rating. I decided to give them another chance and experience the same communication issues and was removed from the gig. This time the gig was reposted. I will not work for a stone wall and have informed them that I will be removing the app from my phone and deleting my profile.
I hadn't deleted it from my phone yet and I saw that rather than doing $4 photoshoots they are now combining locations 2 for $7. Sure, it makes a higher number on the list but you're getting EVEN LESS pay now. And you have to print out a letter of authorization to take with you and set up an appointment. Screw that noise I get more money back just clipping a couple of coupons from the paper.
When I saw the $6.00 bakery biweekly route in where you are doing a full out merchandising assignment, ( which conservatively would be an hour visit), I knew that it wasn't an app I would be utilizing in the future. Deleted it off my phone.
I just got an email about many new shops on Gigwalk. I just paid off my contract to break it with Sprint, so at the moment I am smartphone free. I'm waiting for a good Verizon deal. They are the only ones that actually have service for most of the state. So I will wait and watch what is going on with Gigwalk. They didn't have anything worthwhile in the area the last time I looked.
