I have done mystery shops only, and I am thinking about doing merchandising. I got an application for ASC. Have you worked for this company? Do they train? Are you an independant contractor? Where can I get training?
Thanks
Sorry, I haven't heard of ASC, I am an Independent Contractor. some big merchandising companies do train.
I checked, they have nothing really close to me, and I doubt they'd paid me to drive an hour and a half each way just to reach the closest point to where they are hiring in regards to where I am.
I'm interested in becoming a merchandiser again, before retiring from the workforce I worked in the retail business. From being a manager and assistance manager I conducted these shops. I'm experience in POG, and schematics. I know how to cut in new items.
These companies are trying to get away with Paying $8.75 (Hallmark) and $10.
If NONE of us accept that low of pay, they will have to pay a living wage.
I've seen what they get for $10 and under and it is embarrassing!
CBarnes - Go for it, I think you will like it and you have just the right background.
Spicy - Agreed.

I recently signed up with a company I used to work with and made it clear it was 12.00 an hr or no deal they offer 10.00) and fully expect a merit raise after a year of good service. I already have 2 companies on my roster that pay lower than 12.00 and 4 that pay more so I am phasing out the underpaid work whenever possible.
If you can find companies that hire their own merchandisers, you will find that the pay is a bit higher. Viabella ( A.K.A Marion Heath) comes to mind, greeting cards, gift bags, paper napkins. Also Designdesign- Upscale cards, beautiful gift bags, candles, paper napkins and paper plates. Small jobs usually- about an hour per week per store during the busy season. These are not blue jean jobs, you do have to dress business casual.
