I work for CAST, and sent an email to my TOM. This is just an excerpt from the email, because the gist of the email (that I want to share) is his revealing that CAST employees can work more than just Monday-Wednesday.
**********
My email to my TOM:
"As an IC with other companies, I have always committed to servicing my assigned stores from Tuesday through Saturday. However, since CAST is only Monday through Wednesday, this puts a crimp on..."

My TOMs reply to me:
"The dates for Monday through Wednesday only apply for Store 1 and Store 2, all the other projects will be extended into Friday."
*********
This looks to me that one is able to work their assigned projects all week, not just Monday through Wednesday.

That is true, only the program clients are Mon-Wed (One program is Sun-Wed). The project clients are Mon-Fri. Program clients are the ones where work is weekly or bi-weekly for the same client. Project clients are spaced more infrequently. Plus, the 9 am to 6 pm scheduling guidelines are just that, a guide. You can schedule earlier or later in the day if you wish.
Their communications on this for at least for my sake were PISS poor, I think it was a great time to be done with them. Maybe they feel the same. There are other fishes to work for out there.
This thread has been so helpful. I've been an IC with castforce for almost 2 years and no one from the company has said anything to me. I noticed all this month no jobs so I kind of suspected them closing. I did get calls from cast retail, one day they called me relentlessly until I answered. I wasn't happy about that and she couldn't answer any of my questions. I filled out the application even though I don't want a territory, I liked being able to say no to some jobs. I have not heard back. I'm very disappointed that Castforce didn't say anything. At least I got paid and got my 1099.
I too worked for Castforce and loved it. When they changed to CAST, I decided not to go with them. I did not like the idea of inputting the work on an IPhone. Had it been a tablet, I probably would have accepted. Castforce did not let me know of their change either. I kept getting the request to sign with CAST. Plus, like you said, they could tell me little about what was going on. They should have piloted the transition in a small area to see how it was going to work for them before they jumped head-first into a mess. I wonder how it is going for them.
This is NOT really worth of time compare to Castforce. I used to get $11/job even if I worked 20 minutes. I finished my first job and I am only paid for 20 minutes which is just $3.50. So basically, they decreased pay rate from $11/store to $4-5 /per store. You don't get mileage or any other reimbursement unless you drive more than 30 miles. So basically, Cast came up with this new idea to pay LESS for each job/store. You can not spend more than hour if 1 hour is allocated if you don't have an approval.
I was told one hour minimum pay, which lasted for the first paycheck. Then I got stiffed in a big way on this paycheck with no prior communication. I'm extremely unhappy.
Really but my last pay stub is for $3.50 for 20 minutes I spent in the store. They did not include anything for driving time (20 minutes) and mileage. In the nutshell, it is really not worth of a time. As I said, they are saving MORE money and we are making LESS. I used to get $11 for 20 minutes of my time in the store and I was ok. I can't do this anymore. I can't work for cheap. These guys are behaving like a king and not answering any questions and folks still don't know how it will work. If you are happy to make $3.50 for each without getting paid for mileage and drive time then this job is for you.

I had issues with my cell phone and after 12 hours of trying to get it to work, with the help of support and on my own it wasn't going to happen. At first I was told I'd be paid for that time as it was admin time, plus I did the online training. They have not paid me anything at all. I was told I need to buy a new phone. My phone does everything I need so why would I for their little pay. They want you to supply the phone and wifi and then use them to track you once you leave your home. They pay nothing for this and now pay a lot less for jobs completed.
I agree and keep in mind everything is done in store so if there is no wifi in the store, you have to use data from your monthly bucket to upload the report. I know some companies they let users upload later from the home. They basically reduced pay from $11 to $4-5 per store. Why not they are paying for driving time, mileage, my data to upload? It is NOT worth it. Stay away until they pay at least 12-15 dollars per store minimum.
Wow. This is amazing. I wonder how long merchandisers will be able to afford to work for them with these kind of paydays?
I think you should contact someone at Cast Retail, www.joinourcast.com. The 2 day a week info is not correct and they may have the work you are looking for. We all love Cast so give them a chance and see what they have got.
I am not sure that is correct, You should be able to start when the store opens for most projects, i.e. 6 AM for Walmart if that is where you are working.
debbie, the Cast system doesn't even allow you to schedule anything outside of the 9-5pm time. I had been assigned training, the LOreal certification, and I couldn't even schedule that to do when I got home: Their system wouldn't allow it. I wonder how you can work for Cast and not know that?

The gave ALL the LOreal continuity to one person where I live. Incidentally, I know from the Walmart's that I service regularly and that I do cosmetic resets for that the employee does NOT do their job. There's all sorts of LOreal product in the backroom when they leave; I've checked!.

They had me scheduled for 1 assignment a day for three separate days this week. One of those assignments is to service the Navajo / Pirahna sunglasses at a neighborhood market. Well, neighborhood market's don't have them. I'm not getting out of bed, or leaving one of my other jobs for this. They need more work or need to pay a decent wage for the tiny work they have, imho
Spicy, they have since changed the scheduling parameters to 6 am- 9 pm for most projects, including Loreal. And yes, Walmart neighborhood market does carry the Navaho/ Pirahna sunglasses. I service 2 of those locations. They are usually in the race track by checkouts or in the cosmetic sections.

This company is evolving weekly. They are trying to iron out the wrinkles. Lots of mis-information and half truths on the boards.
I have a cosmetic reset to do today but I'll check again when I get home. I was just on portal.castretail or whatever it is on wednesday and couldn't do the "homework" because it was 10 pm. And the walmart market I went into didn't have them, so, I'm speaking of that

And while they are working out their wrinkles I didn't have work from them for a month so I had to find work elsewhere. Now they're tossing work on my portal that has been virtually abandoned since my last assignment late December and expecting me to just to it. I think it's laughable and I'll do it if I can. They weren't dedicated to me so I feel the same, and that's about any company.

Well, I know for myself, I didn't post any misinformation or half truth. I had it in writing as to the pay scale.
Wild bill is passing half truth! There is no way I can schedule outside of 9-6 and also pay is ridiculous just time spent inside the store. There is no pay for drive time or mileage. I don't know how you can work for that cheap.
So don't work for them, all I know is that each of my projects has a different pay rate based on the client, I can schedule between 6 am and 9pm, I get paid travel time and mileage (between stores, not from home), I can schedule multiple clients in the same store the same day back to back, and my direct deposit is on time.

This company pays about the same as Advantage, Spar, Crossmark Drive line etc. If you think the grass is greener, go work for them... No W2 company pays flat rate like an IC company does. There are always pros and cons with every company, I know, I have worked with most of them over the years.
I think it is more of a problem for people who did good work for Castforce, but now have more frustrations for less pay with Cast. If you are just starting with Cast, it may seem like a good deal.
I wonder if the lawsuit against them is the reason for them closing the Castforce division so quickly and quietly. Not to mention they were so unprepared. I know the CA's weren't told of this until one day before their mass calling of 700 IC's to get them to complete new hire packets. The last time I spoke to my TOM on a Sunday she mentioned she was there working that day for no pay. I never could get an answer from her on how to report admin time.
You add (subtract really) your admin time during your job don't you? I do. Any printing, email reading etc. I do while I'm on the job site. Are they set up to add admin time like Crossmark/Advantage or Acostya...a-cost-ya,,,get it...lol
Far as i could tell, (and, please, correct me if I am wrong) neither party won in this lawsuit.

I do not understand why this lawsuit was filed, or why it was brought up in this here forum.

The good ones allow for admin time. The bad ones can need as much report time as is allowed for the whole job. Been there, done that. Have the t shirt to prove it.
