CYBER BULLIED BY FORUM MEMBER- How can you block them?

I have no evidence to indicate you do know the difference. You have been quite vague about the gist of the message and the subject line here is overly dramatic. Perhaps you should have Jacob look at the original message, your response and any responses you received after.

If you click on a person's name, you'll see Toggle User Visibility. I disagree with Sybil2 about toggling. Toggling those who post inanity or are repeatedly rude and crass makes for a much more pleasant viewing experience. (And, no, I have not toggled Brian. There's a difference between snark and just plain nastiness.)

Perhaps the place to start would be for everyone to familiarize themselves with the definition of cyberbullying: the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature.

AustinMom is about as level headed a person as you will find anywhere. Her post was actually spot on and reiterated statements made by others. It is certainly possible the OP misinterpreted the PM. He or she could than have started by asking the sender for clarification then asking the forum how to handle unwanted messages. The advice to contact Jacob would have been forthcoming without the histrionics.

stop it.

just stop it, right now.

you're too sensible (as usual)

jeez, you're always making the rest of us look foolish with your well-constructed, impeccably spelled, grammatically correct & properly syntaxed comments.
From this point on I will stick to snark, bad grammar and lots of typos. But know this, I will not be a drama queen. I will also try to refrain from pointing out you seem to be cyberstalking mewinking smiley

CoatCloset - First off, sorry that you have lost a family member. I've read your original post as seeking advice. If you were being snarky you would have called out the offending forum member by name. To me, AustinMom's post is an example of bullying; there are nice ways to get your point across. Referring to you as a 4-year old cry baby was uncalled for. This forum should be used to help each other grow in this industry, not to be mean to others. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. I question the intent of anyone sending an unsolicited PM (whether it be one PM or more). To me that indicates that whatever they are saying, they don't want others to read. If they are providing advice that may be beneficial, why not post for everyone to read. Hang in there - there are nice people on this forum who truly have a desire to help others. Just watch - I'm likely to get slammed for my opinion. :>winking smiley~

Sorry, but I actually fully agree with you. But when someone sent me an unsolicited email just to continue the discussion in the Forum whioh I had given up on, I told him off in no uncertain term.

not going to work. If you "stick to snark. bad grammar and lots of typos" that pretty much would apply to many of us (according to some asshat msc's).

yep, you know who you are & i'm looking at you intellishop & the like.

thx for the invite but lime only pairs well with margaritas.
I'll take the lime, salt and a shot of tequila. Only wussy boys drink margaritascool smiley

touche and i'm down for that, especially here in wacky utah where they can only put 1 oz of "demon alcohol" (per the very strict law, concocted by the plural wives-loving mormons) in a cocktail. 1 oz = one of those "soy, nonfat, decaf lattes" = a "why bother".
@Sybil2 wrote:

@PCB, they still have private bottle clubs there, right?

don't know what that is but it sounds wayyy too progressive for wacky utah.
Every time I have been there, I've "joined" a private bottle club. If you order a mixed drink, they give you a mini-bottle and you have to open and pour it yourself. It was weird the first time.
OMG you live a cloistered life...bottle clubs are where you go when the bars close, you BYOB and drink 'til the next bar opens.

i think its been replaced by the high-tech devices that all places that serve alcohol (licenses very severely restricted and controlled) must put on their bottles which measures a precise 1 oz (maximum) of alcohol that can be served or put in a mixed drink. 1 friggin' ounce? i spill more than that. keep in mind that utah is 62% mormon...not a typo.....62 friggin" %. scary, eh????

Agreed, we can all attempt to make this a more welcoming place.

As a counter-point, I have received and sent unsolicited PM's on occasion. In all cases, the messages were respectful and I have never received an unsolicited PM that I think the sender would be ashamed for others to read, nor would I ever consider sending something through PM that I would not also be comfortable saying on the public forum. And subsequently, I wouldn't post anything to an internet forum using a handle that I would feel uncomfortable putting my real name behind. PM's should not be used to say something nasty so others can't publically read them. I find PM's useful more for discussion that would distract from others' use of the forum, particularly when wanting to discuss something that would be off topic or not be useful for others to read.

Also, parkcitybrian mentioned the downside of PM's being the attempt to stay anonymous which I take as being along the same lines as using PM's to direct nastygrams. For my personal use, PM's are the opposite of anonymous as I will sign a PM with my real name and have had some great interactions with folks on the forum.
