Hello Lisa - I did ten of these big box two day audits ending in October 2010. The company pays quickly. The work is hard and there will be much more time involved in this than you expect.
I was treated really well by all employees at the company whenever I was able to reach someone. I was never able to get through on the emergency number to be used during audits. Unless they've improved in that regard, you need to be prepared to call in with a problem during an audit and get a recording, with no call back.
If you decide to do these audits, I want to recommend Donna Goodwin as a contact person. After I had stopped doing the audits, Donna called me and I found her to be concerned and professional. I think she would help you if you hit snags.
I had tremendous problems with data input and getting thrown out of the system. Since it's been so long since I audited, I'm no longer qualified to talk about inputting the reports. Perhaps some auditors who are doing these jobs currently will hop on the board and tell us about it.
If you are new at this business, I would recommend that you get some experience before you try these. I did them when I first started out, and I think that made it more difficult.
I did ten of these, so I couldn't have thought the pay was all that bad, but I also didn't think it was all that good. I believe these jobs could have been done with less time and effort than I put in, but I can't back off. With all that said, I'm really glad I did these audits. I learned a lot about this business and about electronics, and overall I think it was certainly worth it to me on a personal level if not financially.
I no longer work with GFK. This was their decision, not mine, after I made comments on this forum about my experiences with these audits. If you work with this company and turn in usable reports, my experience was that you will be paid promptly. I believe this is a solid and reputable company, and the work will be steady and continuing.
