Five Guys Burgers & Fries

Does anyone know if they're still shopped? They used to be offered monthly but I don't know if they changed companies or they just stopped using shoppers.

They are still shopped. I've heard that after you do so many of them, the MSC takes you out of roatation for a while. It has not happened to me, but I've heard others say this.
Yes they are still shopped and I have not heard that youn are taken out of the rotation if ou do o many I do at lest 1 a week and have for several months. The MSC in my area that assigns them is where you get your groceries and the Star Wars slogan may the _____ be with you. Hope this helps. Good luck and good shopping.
Thanks all! That's the info I was looking for. I'm in good standing with this co. - have two shops coming up but not 5 guys! Maybe it's just the one that's 10 minutes from my house that's not using shoppers (Wah, Wah!!).
They fly off the boards, so yours may well be shopped but you just arrived at the board too late to catch them. If you see any of them on your job board you are entitled to do them and just missing the locations of interest to you. A quick way to check if you don't see any is to look at the Washington DC area. The shops are evidently not 'hot property' there so you will be able to see them lingering long after they are taken in other areas of the country. I am currently on mandatory hiatus from 5 Guys and look forward to getting to see them again in the future.

I hear ya. I put myself on hiatus from them. But the assigment is full with 5 Guys.

I am trying SMASHBURGERS this week. I TASTE 5 Guys twice a month. I can't eat there fries.

Just trying something esle.
I found out Five Guys does NOT want you to order all red line or black line ingredients. Not the shopping company but the restaurant. It is a white flag for them. The restaurant only wants normal customers to top their burger (economically) with a few toppings not the red or black line choices as state on the menu board.
I had one last week and one or two again next week (gotta look). I'd trade them for Chipotle though :-) Working on that....
I've done 12 of the 5 Guys shops and am so addicted!

I do them at least once a week, sometimes twice a week.

At first the fries were not what I was used to but now it has gotten better.

I only eat less than half the fries because I don't want to turn into a whale!smiling smiley
I was bounced from doing their shops last fall. There's no stated rotation and I apparently got too greedy. They bounced me for a few months and when the shops reappeared on my board, I started taking only one or two a month.

The first few times my husband had their boardwalk style fries, he didn't like them. He liked crispy fries, especially shoestring-like. He now can identify frozen fries, and appreciates the difference. For him, they were an acquired taste. Between us, we still can't polish off an order.
When I do a 5 Guys I order a Bacon Cheeseburger with lettuce, mayo, mustard, grilled onions mild rings and pickles. I have not heard anythin about not putting on toppings from either the MSC or the company I always get Fries and Coke Zero. I always finish off the whole thing.
I got bounced for one of the world's worst behaved manager and employees/bad food to boot shop. It was on a Sunday, no less-and MSC had bonused up to $25 for the fee alone. Not at all my part of town, but I felt sorry for the scheduler and took it.

Suffice to say that if most of those employees had been working for me, they would not have a job any longer. If it was not a shop, I would have left the building without ordering or eating. However, I soldiered on.

The person seated next to me began complaining very loudly about the food he was served, the "burger" seriously looked like a sausage patty. He engaged his wife, then me, in conversation and was very insulting in his remarks. The manager came over to shut him up and re-served the food.

After I reported the entire incident along with the rest of the mess, the manager fingered me as the shopper, but claimed that *I* was the difficult customer and was commenting about my food to the other couple. I dared the MSC to roll that video to prove it. They paid for the bonused shop, but took me off the client.

I can't say I wasn't warned. The instructions state explicitly that the target looks for mystery shoppers diligently and tries to "catch" them.
They DO try to catch you. And don't you just love the last little disclosure sign off on the form to verify all things or true or else!
I live in Western Connecticut and the last time I did Five Guys was in March. I use to do it twice a month. Many other shops are not done anymore in my area. When I talked with the MS Company they told me they haven't seen some of the shops that I mentioned. The MS company said they were not paying them fast enough so they stopped posting them in this area. So who should you believe?
@Faith - I'm in the same area and haven't seen them since middle of the summer. I used to love the one in Brookfield as it was a perfect stop on a Danbury route for lunch!
After I did 5G about a week later I get an email from the scheduler asking to verify that I don't know anyone that works for 5 Guys. I guess my report was critical enough. Still munching on all the peanuts i stuff in my pockets.
I still do 5 Guys shops on occasion. I like the fries okay, but I think they're much better if you have them add the Cajun seasoning. If you're not sure you'll like it, have them put it on the side & you can add it yourself to taste.

The shops sometimes get bonused here, but not too often. Once I had a scheduler call me for one & I asked for a little extra so that the fee would pay for my kids' food as well. I got it with no questions asked. I think it was an extra $5 over what they were already offering.

The food is good, but I don't go gaga over it. I took my brother once when he was in from out of town. He thought it was one of the best burgers that he'd ever had. So, his opinion matched those of so many others.

Their lunch periods tend to extend out pretty far...something like 3 PM. Once I was running later than normal & went in around 2:30. There weren't many people & I was sure I would be identified. But, so far there have been no problems.
I would love to do these if I could figure out the MSC. There is only one if my area. Any further hints for the MSC?
Thanks suzie. Unfortunately I don't do business with them anymore. Oh well I will have to be satisfied with my In & Out's
Now that is just mean...we don't have them here in CT but when I visit my mother in law in Northern California I usually stop there on the way to her house from the airport!

I'll tell you though, Mel's Diner is across the street from the one closest to her house and they have AWESOME food!
I'm sorry I didn't mean to be mean lol I love my In & Out though and take their shops every time I'm back on rotation for them. The Mel's Diners in So Cal are too far north of me so I haven't tried them yet.
ahmaynard - plbell says about as clearly as anyone can what MSC is doing 5 Guys. We only have 1 5 Guys in my area, and you need to be sure which shop you sign up for. If you were planning on taking a dinner one day and a lunch the next, forget about it. Once you sign up for one shop, all the others disappear. Same with Wingstop. I guess it's the MSC's way of making sure everyone gets a chance.

NOTE: I'm not on the forum every day. If someone comments on my post, I might not reply right away. I've been a shopper since 1991. I've never done any work for a MS company in any other capacity.
I've had to cut back on them, even though there are lots of 5 Guys in my area. The problem is that none of them are ever that busy. Especially on the dinner and late night shops. It's really hard to disappear into the corner and eat just a few bites then leave after checking the restroom in 15 minutes. I think doing it that way more than once could be a dead giveaway, and my waist line and cholesterol level just can't handle it.

That's interesting. Every time I've done a 5 Guys in my area, the place is always packed. I've never seen anything like it.
Ours was busy for grand opening. After that I see less than 5 people a time. On my own I will not go there. They limit toppings here. They also limit peanuts to one tray a table.
You're lucky, Phoebe70. I think they opened too many of them too close together around here. It could also be why Canadamommy is being limited on toppings and peanuts. None of the ones I've done limit anything and even let you carry peanuts out even though their signs say it's a no no.
None of the 5Guys here limit anything get as many topping or peanuts. Maybe the frachiasee in the area where CANADAMONNY lives is trying to cut cost.

Yes - and I've never seen any other shop or MSC use anything so threatening. Amazing.

The first month the MSC did 5 Guys - about 3 months after they opened - the instructions said I couldn't use my cell phone to take notes, as that was a dead giveaway. WTH? During the shop, my husband started pointing out person after person using cell phones to text or surf the 'Net - and the restaurant was packed. He said the workers must be paranoid because of all the "shoppers"!

The next month, the rule that I couldn't use my cell phone to take notes quietly disappeared.......
