Starbucks

Does anyone know if Starbucks is still shopped? I have a personal reason for
this informtion. I go daily to a Starbucks and see some really bad stuff happening, you wouldn't believe it. I don't and won't shop this paticular one,
but want the client to know what's going on, they are losing business right and left with someone taking up two tables, and running a bead business daily
(11:00to4:00), solicating Starbucks customers into buying her braclets, and
making them right there. She buys one cup of coffee and brings her own lunch,
the staff puts it in the fridge, then heats it up for her...while two tables
for her beads are taken everyday. I have seen people leave due to nowhere to sit, place is small. They are getting a new manager in April, the old one is moving. I am busting with trying to straighten this out. Who can I as a customer turn too, no one cares. There is no other Starbucks that would allow this. Question is, who knows if it is still being shopped?

When I was first getting started with Ms'ing they were my bread and butter. One on almost every corner and shopped almost weekly. Then it cut down to monthly and then Starbucks started having financial troubles and started closing down stores. When they did this, the stopped the mystery shopping program. As far as I know it, has not been revived. I wish it would be revived, because I really loved the shops.
You can always notify as a non shopper. I'm sure corporate watches store sales and if the numbers are down they would be glad to know what the reason may be.

I would write a letter or email and express your displeasure. State not beig able to get a seat and your other observations. What's the worst that could happen at this point.

Bw sure to include your address since they often send freebies.

Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just forget to load the film.
I did try and email someone at the top, but nowhere on their site is there a
place for complaints unless it is about the coffee. I'm sure if they were
still shopped, this wouldn't be happening.

I just wrote them in detail, and awaiting their answer...maybe we'll get
Starbucks back, will keep you posted.

This particular aspect will be a major concern for any risk manager and quality control corporate officer as the employees introduce a major risk for contamination by viruses like salmonela, etc. I would write them an email here:

stating how you are concerned for the safety of the drinks/food and also snap a photo with my phone of the lady in question and if you see the employees handing or receiving the food.
I received a thank you email stating they will look into this problem. Starbucks does not allow solication, and the health board does not look
kindly on food being brought in. I did not receive any goodies.....

Approach the store manager and offer to shop their location independently. They may forward you to the regional manager.

I go there daily, and know everyone. This would not be a store I would be able
to shop. Hoping they get their act together, they are in the process of getting a new Manager. The old one was lax as he was looking for a job (having finished school), got one and is moving.

I just spoke to a worker there and found out they are now shopped by an
Independent shopper from their company....seems this one is blind.
I also found out the customer's food is being stored in the locker where
the employees keep their lunch, not the customers fridge. Would this be
kosher, encouraging the customer to bring her own food.

I do not think it is kosher because the employees are required by both state and corporate regulations to wash their hands, use hygienic methods like wearing gloves, etc. That's why there are signs in every restroom that employees must wash their hands. There is also an assumption that employees go through training/refresher course for sanitation rules and techniques. Also, most S stores do not have a separate break room but just a tiny area with a small table and chairs inside the back room where they keep the supplies.

I just do not see how corporate or Area management will allow it. Starbucks has done extensive qualitative and quantitative evaluations and found that stores that followed all corporate regulations, from how the baristas prepared drinks and the temperature served, to maintaining frequent cleaning of restroom/dining area, affected the profit by a minimum of 15% at the individual store level.
Corperate doesn't know what is going on, if they did, it would be stopped.
I am so bothered by this aside from the fact that she actually makes braclets
and collects money in the store, uses Starbucks as her office. The fact that
solicitation is something S doesn't allow, even their cork board allows only
non-profit to advertise....how could I reach corperate?

Try this, Irene.
Thanks Carol, I think I finally got through, just got an email saying Corperate
has been notified and will look into the problem. I'll now put this to rest
(at least for today).

I do a Starbuck's but it is in the Airport past security and you have to have a secruity badge to get back to it
pibell627, you must be doing it for the company that has the concession contract for that airport. I also do Starbucks at airports, and in some amusement areas but they are not done for S corporate.
Their headquarters is a really cool old Sears building, that I think was once the largest Sears in the US. Very classy. Hundreds of workers there, and coffee stands I think on each floor. Each employee gets a free pound a week.
