Trendsource April shops paid May 5

I am most likely not going to get an EIN for Trendsource. If I complete a pizza shop the last week of April (to be paid May 5th) will I need a EIN since the payment is in May or will I be fine since the shop was performed in April?

My understanding is you would need the EIN since they said you had to have it by May to get paid.
I just scheduled what I thought would be my last shop for them and it occurred to me the payment would be May 5th. I'm fairly confident I will not get an EIN. Ugh.. Better cancel!

No more free pizza sad smiley I do those shops on nights I teach a night class. sad smiley (easy dinner for me and the kids!)

Is anyone else planning in getting an EIN? I know the old thread in this topic is very long!
Definitely not getting an EIN. Since they lost the grocery contract I've only made pizza and a couple other shops off of this company. Not worth the hassle.
@gigishopper, there is another company that shops those exact same pizza stores every month as well. Why they use two different msc's to shop the same stores every month is beyond me, but they do.

if you want, send me a pm, and I can 'refer' you to the other co, since they are always asking for referrals...

At one time that pizza company had at least 4 different MSCs jumping through hoopssmiling smiley

FYI - when I was an investigator (my real job), I found out that some cities have an agreement with the state. The state notifies the city when one of the residents that works from home has applied for the EIN. Then the city charges that person for a business license for doing business in that city.
@rubypearl, that is interesting to know. Getting ready to cut ties with Trendsource. Parting is such sweet sorrow.....
I did my last assignment for them the other day. I do not want an EIN and I am not paying again for the background check.
I will not be getting the EIN either. No big loss for me. I worked for them a little. I had an EIN years ago I have no desire to have another one. So, so long it's been good to know ya.
It will be interesting to see how Trendsource will surrvive since so many are not getting the EIN. I spoke with an acct and he highly suggested against it. The pizza shops were OK and the other stuff I did was minimal. Oh well, they may have to change their requirments if they do not get their shops completed.
I believe that another company required it and then changed the policy. ( I think it was MAritz)
I do part time work for a company, not mystery shopping, and I am considered an IC. As of JAN. They have changed it to TSP, Temporary Special Project. It says the employment classification stays the same but TSP receive all legally mandated benefits (such as worker's comp ins & SS).They require an I-9 Form (employment eligibility verification) & the W-4. I have never heard of this before. It appears to be like what you have to have for your DL.Proof of Identity. Have any of you heard of this?
Update: I emailed them explaining that I would need to cancel and deactivate since I did not plan to obtain an EIN. This was their reply:

You do not have to obtain an EIN number until May. You are still able to do assignments until then without an EIN.

So, I guess that means I will do the April pizza shop. I better get paid!

I have decided not to deactivate. Im gonna stay active so I can see how desperate they get. It shall get interesting.
Absolutely will not get an EIN and I sent an email to them letting them know. They acted as if they didn't care. Just gave me the canned response of their justification for requiring it.
Dustygirl, the I-9 is actually an immigration form required to prove you are eligible to work in this country and requires two forms of identification.

I read a lot of the pros and cons regarding the EIN, but decided to get one. I really don't see a downside for me. It took less than 5 minutes to do and was very easy.
I got one, and today did three very easy property inspections for them with a hefty PAD on each.
