It appears the MSC (or client) came to their senses - especially with all those shops just sitting on the boards. Reimbursement is now up to a $50 complimentary card for dinner.
They just started advertising in my area of So. Cal. The name and the ads are not very appetizing to me. The pictures remind me of what my husband used to throw to our cat in the backyard after a fishing trip and of what he tried to bring into the kitchen.
I had a dream last night that I got emails for this shop with a $900 fee....we don't even have these restaurants in our area grinning smiley
I assume that you can't use the complimentary card the next time you shop them. Has anyone done the shops to know for sure?
Of course you can use the card on your next visit, that is what it is for. The only hurdle is making sure you get July's card in time to use for your August dinner. Plus in my newspaper last Sunday, there were $10 coupons for Bonefish Grill.

I assumed that the cards would be a dead giveaway that you're a mystery shopper. I mean, how else do you get one of these non-giftcard cards that aren't good for tax and gratuity? Wouldn't the staff figure out pretty quickly that these things are used to pay mystery shoppers? I mean, it's not like anyone would ever buy one of those things to give as a gift.
Yes, sometimes it is a lot less expensive to use a coupon. The mystery is really why anyone would choose to do a shop that does not make any economic sense for the time and effort involved.
I received my "gift card" as promised after my completed shop. I can only use it for brunch on a Sunday. How annoying.
Using the card definitely outs you. I was using it personally and in a different location. The manager could not have come out fast enough to talk to us, after I paid with the card. He was willing to comp my entire meal, including taxes and tips. It didn't feel right to me, and I left cash tip for our server. $50 is still not enough for dinner. I love their food, but the report is NOT as easy as their "other" restaurant shop.

I just got a $50 offer for Bonefish lunch. This is the first time I have seen Bonefish. I haven't done the shop yet. Cheesecake Factory I've been doing for years. My husband and I only order the $40 worth of food. I usually do lunch and don't drink alcohol at lunch time. I only shop when I'm at the mall. Report is easy. Lots of food for the money.
I've noticed most sit down shops for restaurants do not pay enough. I will pick them up if I know I'm going out anyway because it ends up paying for part of my meal, but I never pick them up and go out of my way to do them.
