Seriously? They are still shopped? I used to them several times a year and they stopped around 2-3 years ago.

I need to find some of these great dining opportunities. This is where I live is fairly small town, there are very limited opportunities. However, we are not traveling every other weekend to help with care for my father in law. About 20 miles from a fairly large city with many more options.
I just saw them with the new company. I'll pass. Lunch is $15, dinner is $25 paid with a complimentary card NOT a gift card so it does not carry over any unused portion. Plus they require photos of exterior/interior and all food.

.......and snapped up in an instant! I passed, too, but apparently this is really attractive to some folks.
Also just noticed that the Complimentary card, not a gift card, excludes gratuity, taxes and alcoholic beverages. You can not even give it as a gift to someone. At least for CKF, I sometimes do business meals there and then have the gift card for future visits or a gift to someone.
Yep, I just saw that BF assignment and passed. $15 "complimentary card" for a meal that probably cost at least double that amount (you have to bring someone)....I had to re-read the guidelines several times because I was sure I was misreading it.

This sounds like a lot of work...

I would rather do the "Famous Texas Steakhouse" and get paid real dollars! smiling smiley
I did a lunch and lost money. You have to order one of the more expensive specialty drinks and you can't dine alone. Between the required drinks, appetizer and 2 entrees, we went way over. I'm going to use the $15 card for take out of one entree and hopefully, it will cover. I hope there isn't a fine print that I can use it on take out!

For the new MSC you can order anything you want but reimbursement is $15 lunch, $25 everything else, with a COMPLMENTARY card that does not carry unused balance and excludes taxes, tip, and alcohol. But they suggest to order at least 2 courses appetizers, entrees, and beverages, and feel free to order anything else you wish; plus take photo of everything ordered. Basically it is a coupon for the next visit that requires a report and photos. It is easier to look at the mail coupons we get every month and can be used for that meal, not future ones.
country buffet today.. ugh, I dont' think i'll go again.. I am reimbursed $14.. took the old guy, total: $28. and so, so many issues .. yeck, never again, never on Sunday............gross.. COLD, YEAH, COLD FRIED FISH
I don't understand these MSC's. If they really want to get a report they should pay for at least what would cover a mid priced meal for the 2 people. It doesn't make sense. You already get a biased feeling if you know you are going to lose money.

I fail to see why a mystery shopper would want to take the shops, but I do understand these MSCs. It makes perfect sense. They want to make money, and they are interested in getting the assignments completed as cheaply as possible. They are getting reports - these assignments literally flew off the job board in my area. There are apparently plenty of mystery shoppers willing to take these assignments and complete a report - I think it's pretty clear if the company can get it done this cheaply, they will continue to do so. Supply and demand: only if they are no longer to get the shops done under those terms will the reimbursement rise.
I passed on BF too but did pick up the Cheesecake Factory since it pays out a $40 card, regardless of how much you spend. Only requirement is 1 drink and 1 appetizer or entree... I will report back on difficulty of shop after I complete it!
I saw these as well...probably one of the worst reimbursements I have ever seen. Maybe I would have done one if I basically drove right by it on the way home from work, but since I have to go out of my way I am not doing it.
I got the email too about this but none were close enough for me so I did not check the guidelines or reimbursement issues. $25 with no sales tax etc is crazy. Perhaps the first group of people who snatched them up did so without knowing the rules and they will have problems getting them filled next month. I just did an afternoon Cheesecake last week. I generally do the $40 shops only. I had an old menu at home and compared prices with those from just a year ago...most prices had gone up $1-$2. My gift card amt has not gone up at all in the many years I have been doing this shop. All we ordered was a cheapest lunch menu entree each and only one cheapest drink on the menu and I went over.
I know I can only order one entree but I am not interested in going out to lunch with another person and only ordering one entree to share and one drink illegal to share and then doing a report etc as well. I am going back to dinner only since at least I get another $10 for the same requirements and the same menu prices as most of the local places do not even have a lunch menu.
Update on using the Bonefish Grill card. I went to dinner (non-shop) with a friend. My meal came to $20, for iced tea and grilled salmon salad. I told the server my card was for $15, even though it was "$15" written on a $25 card (go figure!). A minute later, here comes the way.too.cheerful manager. I'm betting he though I was ms'ing dinner using a prior card (I wasn't). He told me he did not see the point of not using up the entire $25 and reminded me that it was not a gift card. He basically comp'ed my meal (my friend asked for separate checks, so it did not benefit her), including taxes. I left $5 cash tip for the server. I'm curious if other shopper got the $25 instead of $15 by using the card. No way will I take another BFG shop, but I will continue to do the Cheesecake, once they fix their coffee issue. They changed the coffee brand at our location and it tasted like it was brew in dishwasher water.

I did my forst Bonefish last night. I knew we would go over the giftcard but I didn't mind as it is Soft Shell Crab season! The report was basically the same as Cheesecake Factory.
The CF shops are TOTALLY worth it to me - even if I don't even get close to reimbursement on a gift card....
I view those $15 BF Grill shops as essentially doing a shop for a coupon. I don't think there's any way you can not go over the $15 for a two person lunch with beverage, so you always end out money on the shop. So not worth it in my opinion.

But I'll do the Cheesecake Factory shops all day. The $40 usually doesn't quite cover the meal, but with some planning sometimes it does. And they give you so much food that I always get lunch for the next day out of my entree.
The Bonefish Grill shops in my area are just sitting there. There's at least 10 assignments all the locations that are still available. I'm thinking they need to re-think the reimbursement idea.
I signed up for one because I was dumb and excited to see it. Lunch with my mom came to $60. Far more than the $15 card I will eventually get. Oh well...she had just gone for cancer testing and needed a nice lunch anyway.
I wouldn't sign up for that again.
I just asked for a bonus, but they said they weren't authorized to give out a bonus. Since no one is taking them in my area for $25, I'll wait them out until the end of the month.
Can someone help out a still relatively newbie and give initials for the giant MSC who does the CF and BFG shops?
Unfortunately the ICA prohibits us from naming the msc. If you apply to enough companies you'll find it.

FWIW, the Bonefish are just sitting on the boards in my area. I think shoppers aren't biting (pun intended). The client needs to rethink their reimbursement amounts.
