is Maritz NUTS??

Ok - Maritz posted their latest Green gas shops.

They are ONLY grouping them together in "clusters" with a lump sum fee. The fees are VERY good (more per shop than before), however, the cluster in my area is 150 SHOPS!!! you have 7 weeks to complete them, but that's 22 gas stations a week spread out over 15+ counties. In addition, as many of you know, the shop requires six dollars of gas per shop (which is also reimbursed). Thats 40+ gallons of gas to buy each week. Unless you drive a huge SUV, that will be near impossible. My little honda hybrid ain't gonna do it!!

These shops have been a mainstay for me for the last year or more- netting me $400+ a month when they're going on, but now only a full time shopper (with a HUGE honkin' car) can even attempt them.

Anyone else bummed about this???

Having never done them, this is a legitimate question. Are you required to buy $6 in gas or are you reimbursed up to $6? It also sounds like they are in the market for route shoppers.

You are reimbursed up to $6. If you do 4-8 per week it's great - the shops are all around where I go anyway, and I can go 2 months being rembursed for every drop of gas I buy! They are revealed audits, so they are some work and take aboiut 25 minutes on site and 15 minutes for the report (10-20 pictures each). They are easy BUT 22 per week!

routes are fine, but you HAVE to take 150???? The fee, by the way, for this route is like $2100 plus all reimbursements - but ONLY ful timers can do it, and who wants to do that many of the same shop (even IF you are a full timer)!
they don't seem to be offered in my area like that. just single shops.

If I'm taking on a route I much prefer to have as many of the same type of shop as possible. That is the only way to become quicker and more efficient. From what you said about the time on site and the report, that equates to less than fifteen hours per week. Obviously there is drive time, but often going into the more rural areas can also afford the opportunity to pick up other shops that can have really lucrative bonuses.

Guess I won't be doing any more of them...my 2001 Toyota is still getting 34mpg on the highway.

I saw that the routes were offered and was tempted for a moment, but with working full time the shortest route they had near me would require 19 per weekend. I just can commit to that. Maybe over the summer.
I found a route of 4 and took it. I'll no doubt take the extra shops that no one wants.

What I don't understand is that the shops are not grouped by area. I saw one route that had people heading to the northern Chicago burbs and then also to Michigan, and down to Joliet. Other routes included some of those areas as well but then went in different directions.
There are routes from 4 to 68 in my area. I countered offer and know I won't get it. I'm sure there are shoppers who enjoy doing them, I don't like driving that much distance, so my counter is very high and I don't expect to get it.

I like that they are very flexible with the route, because you don't have to take all 150, per OP's route. There's checkmarks on the side that you can uncheck the ones you do not want included in the route. I think Maritz is very fair and not NUTS!

Based on the OP I wasn't considering Maritz nuts at all. If they are allowing shoppers to cherry pick, now I may have to change my opinion.

Ok, I am bummed, not in my area. I do tons of the green gas stations not seeing any. sad smiley. Hmmmm. Is this the mystery shop only or with the revealed audit? I only do the audits. I would much rather prefer a route with Martiz vs. a cherry pick. I like to have routes.
I do the revealed audits and I'm not seeing anything either.

It probably depend on the locations. I don't do audits, but got the link to the routes.

All these shops require photos, right? Driving all over the place to make $100 has to make feasible sense. If it doesn't then I don't. The only time I drove far to make little was with a retail company and I got unemployment when the job ended - different all together.

Gas cans are not allowed. Don't ask me how I know. sad smiley
I was booted from the green sign shops two years ago when I couldn't see the thumbnails on their test. This might be for the best, since their "99 miles" are often three or four hours away. Lord only knows what sort of route they wold have had for me.
I just had a call from Maritz - attempting to explain why I was not compensated for the inside gas purchase. Seems their client - the Billionaire oil company will not authorize to pay me the extra seven cents owed. Excuse me but the Billionaire oil company pays their CEO 20M+ a year and balks at paying me pennies. That is a shame. I realize the employees are just the messenger but it still is a shame!!
Cheryljane, does anything ever go right with you and your MSCs? Over seven cents, you're making another whiney post? Gee whiz.

Mary is not whining, she is stating a fact.

I am not whining either. I am stating a fact. The employee was just relaying the info. I was short $1.06 and asked what happened? Was told the seven cents they could not pay. And yes to answer the qustion posed by a Davis person - the companies who appreciate me I appreciate. They treat me fairly and respect me and I return the favor. I will forward their jobs to others and recommend them. I will NOT recommend a cheap company or a company which will NOT pay for a job done in a timely and correct manner.
Mobydick, you will find that I (the whiner about the whiner) will turn out to be worse than the original whiner. I'm so glad you're here. Cheryljane can use some support and interpretation. I sure can't figure out exactly what's going on, except that she's posted with complaints about multiple reputable companies and seems to believe she can creatively interpret the guidelines. Nothing anyone else has said has meant squat to her so maybe you can jump in here and fix everything. Have at it. Lots of luck, etc.

Cheryljane, if you would post a coherent message, we might be able to understand what you mean. You say you were short $1.06 and you say Maritz said they couldn't pay seven cents. Huh? Did they short you $1.06 or did they short you seven cents? Why do you think they shorted you? Did they not pay the fee and the stated reimbursement? Why would they not pay the seven cents? Did you spend too much on your reimbursable item? You are incomprehensible. That may be part of the problem causing unaccepted and unpaid reports.

Are you sure you don't mean comprehension? Not sure because I am not a published writer. However, I am a lowly shopper who seldom gets a report rejected.

Does posting on various forums qualify as being a published writer now?

Have you heard of Hearst Newspapers? Anyway - I find this arguing back and forth counter productive. I don't want to waste anymore time deliberating with nameless faces on the net. Surely we all have better things to do.
