I sort of banned Lowes shops from my repertoire after two shops took more than an hour each.
I don't mind spending an hour if the pay is enough and its a bank or dining shop, but this was over an hour of walking around trying to get someone to notice me. It was agonizing.

I've had this experience a couple of times at my Lowe's, too! Sheesh. Agonizing is right!

Other times, it's gone very, very well. Most of the time it's just OK.

SodaJerk, why were you waiting for them to acknowledge you? You just have to be able to maneuver around to see a name tag and then report it that way.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

I think that is a big misconception with the Lowe's shops. You don't need them to notice you, you just need a name off of their tag. If they don't acknowledge you report it that way, if they do, report it that way. The only time you really have to speak to anyone is when you do the specified department of the shop and cash register.

Easy peasy....20 minutes tops (depending on how much the interaction likes to talk).
Although I manage to get name tags for a good share of employees who do not greet me, the name requirement really skews the shop in the favor of the employee. Most that don't want to be bothered with you will be moving too fast or turned around so the tag cannot be seen.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

That, Lisa, is what can make it agonizing! There's been a few times I've wandered the store without being able to find ANYONE... well, of course I eventually do, but it takes forever... then when I do, they ignore me, and breeze on by such that I can't read their tag.

Although, sometimes they breeze on by giving a pleasant greeting, but still too damned fast to read their tag. *sigh*. Sometimes I've called out to ask where something is, so they'll turn around and I can get a 2nd chance to read the damned tag! smiling smiley

It's amazing how often I can't find a single person that isn't at a register (or right in front of it, doing that thing where they seek out customers to ring up), or at/around the customer service desk, or greeting at the front door... none of which count, of course. Sometimes there's tons of them around that damned customer service desk! Then the others I find are on one of those lift-thingies or something like that ~ so they don't count, either!

The other thing that drives me nuts (and not just at Lowe's) is when they're wearing a coat/jacket of some kind that covers their tag. At Lowe's, I had been there what seemed like forever, and the third greet person was doing this. I reported it just like that, and the report was accepted and I was paid.

Then I was doing one of the hardware stores for MF. It REQUIRES a name... if they don't have tag or have it covered, you MUST ask. Which is really dumb. What normal customer would *do* that?! But... this had never been an issue at this particular store until this last time. The only two people in the store who I needed to report on, the cashier and the floor associate, both had their name tags covered with a coat. The other three employees I spotted all had clearly visible name tags.

Of course. Why not! *sigh*

I asked the floor guy if he was "Rodger". He said "No." And that was it! I stared at him a moment, and he FINALLY said his name was Matt. I said he looked like someone I'd met last week at a function while visiting my sister's church. He said that wouldn't be him. Then I realized I think he thought I was hitting on him. Oh, good grief!

The cashier... well, I could see a paw print on the tiny edge of her name tag that *was* showing. I mentioned that, thinking perhaps there was a greater design and she might pull her coat back to show me. Nope. I have some paw prints on my purse, and she mentioned that back. We then talked dogs just a moment while she finished up the transaction. So when I left, I just said, "And what was your name?" She said, and I introduced myself and said it was nice to have met her. (It actually was, so... )

I just wish they'd ALL wear clear, easy-to-read name tags. I also hate when the print is smeared or faded!

I quit doing the MF hardware shops because of the name requirement. The last time, my cashier was a younger good-looking guy with a heavy African accent. His nametag was peeking out from under his coat but I could only see two letters of it. I was debating if I should attempt a guess, just use those two letters and call it good or what, and I finally just said "What did you say your name was?" he replies "I didn't" dang dang dang! I then said "Oh...so...what is it?" and he told me, something very different and no way could I repeat it much less spell it. So I asked if him how he spelled it! I don't know if he thought I was hitting on him or just a whack job, but I got the name and don't plan on doing more of them.

To tie this in to the topic: fortunately, at my Lowes there are always plenty of people running around that I've never had an issue with getting enough names/interactions for those shops.
and the scenario is very different...

Ok took the test, went back in and all are off the boards. I do not believe that anyone snapped them all up as I did the 100 mile radius and they are all gone and well; that just doesn't happen here.

Might be some sort of weird glitch. Originally my page was showing two shops for each location, one available for me and the other with the test icon. The available shops had a due date of 3/31. After the test there was only one shop for each and the due date was 4/5.

I think so Lisa. Mine was showing two for each as well and now all gone. I put in my condo zip and those are there so I don't know. Guess I will wait and see. Not like I was going to take them for the beginning commission anyway.

I think we have plenty of time for them to work it outgrinning smiley

I had the same thing happen with another MSC for a different shop. One time I looked and there must have been something like 20 available shops for one client. I looked a little later and there was only 1. I didn't believe that they were all snapped up in a short period of time. I ended up being correct. A few days later i get an email from the schedules with all of the shops that had been on the board being available. They were no longer showing up on the board and I had to email the scheduler to assign me the shops. When they were on the board they were self assign.

Absofreakinglutely not, TechMan! I'm usually the one kvetching about CLs snatching up assignments at ridiculous fees.

Sure haven't seen any Houston area DQs, which I miss, since $450-some odd worth of mainly Sonic shops this last month gets tiring and I need to change it up occasionally. Heck, I have three Sonics left this week and I'd like to boot them, but I will live.

I am getting messages for Boston Market, but those are on the other side of town from me and with about six weeks of my real job starting up come Monday (working 7-12s), I'm not going overboard this weekend, either.
I asked one of the schedulers for this company and they said that they were coming up with different forms for Lowes. She thought it would take a month or so but obviously it took a little longer then expected. The directions are very different and I feel like i'm a mystery shopper virgin again!
I have been wondering the same thing. I thought it was just my area. No more Jo Ann, Lowe's, Payless, DQ, Christmas Tree Shop, Bed, Bath. All I get is gas stations and plasma donation-no thanks!

I really hope these jobs post again soon!

Lowe's is back and the BBB never left my area.

BBB disappeared & isn't back yet... still no JoAnn's, Payless, or DQ for me either. Lowe's, however, is back. I never had any Christmas trees. I've never seen gas stations nor plasma donating through this MSC.

I keep using the line over and over "Aren't you JoAnn's son Timothy?" And then they say "no, I'm...." So far it has worked. Don't know if it will always work.

Shopping off and on for 20+ years in NE Arkansas.
Still have DQ's on the board here. I pay attention to things like that. I love DQ! My first job was at a DQ, about 40+ years ago. (I was 14!) And no, you don't get tired of it.
