New MSPA "member" offer
Posts:82
Now, THAT's what I'm talking about. Getting an offer from MSPA to join as a shopper member...for FREE. AND, I love the search engine. You can look for exactly the companies you want to based on so many different criteria!

Huh? Are you saying they contacted you and offered you a free membership? Or is this something you found on their site?

They want me to pay $20. You must be special. And I'm Silver certified.

Going to eat worms now....

I went to their website and they were listing a $20 fee for shoppers to become members of MSPA.

I received an email with an invitation and a promo code. I'm Silver, too, so I don't think I'm any more special than a whole bunch more of you!

I received the email offering the free membership. The link takes you to a youtube video with a link to click in the comments under the video to activate with a promo code. I haven't tried it yet. still wondering if it's for real.

Judging by the video, it looks like this applies to certified shoppers. I haven't gotten certified yet because of all of the snafus.

OK. I just followed the link from the YouTube video and found out I was already a member. I don't see anything about a $20 fee though.

I would not pay $20 to become a shopper member of the MSPA.

Edited to add:

OK. I see the $20 under Join/Renew Membership. I'm not going to do anything with that.

I registered on the MSPA site a long time ago. I don't mind continuing being a shopper member although I haven't seen any benefit of being a member. However, there is no way I am going to pay $20 flat, let alone $20/year, to remain a member.

This is as ridiculous as the snafus with the certifications.

The snafus can at least be blamed on incompetence and indifference. This membership fee is just in-your-face, naked greed.

Give me a break.

Is the promo code in the email? I didn't see any reference to that in the video. Maybe if you're one of the chosen ones you get a coupon code to use at checkout that makes it free.

Will there be a $20 fee when it's renewal time, though?

You'd think they'd realize we talk to each other.

I went all the way through the "Offer" and sign up process. You enter the promo code at the very end where you would enter your credit card info if you were actually purchasing the 20.00 'deal' Since I did not enter any cc info, they can not automatically charge me at renewal time. I can't imagine it will be worth the effort, much less $20.00 but for free I am just curious enough to want to find out for myself.

The post of Barbage was so logical, I decide to "take the plunge;" I'm now, at no cost, a shopper member, but I'm uncertain as to the length of my membership.

I also got the code, and signed up for free. I am not sure what benefit I will have. Access to the job board is available without membership.

I love that the forum area is void of any posts, and that forum has been around awhile.

I got the email and the code is only good for this year. Since the credit card info disappeared after I put in the code, I don't have to worry about an automatic renewal. No way would I pay $20 a year.

I think the benefit is that the MSPA can claim that they have x many shopper members when promoting themselves.

I also signed up. Maybe MSPA is trying to get there act together or I should say software squared away and maybe that's why they are offering the free membership - to kind of make up for the problems in the past.

At any rate I never turn down "free" stuff.
