New MSPA "member" offer

I took the free membership, and thank you, MSPA. Maybe I can learn something.

I received the same email and code. I went to the site and the "Search" function will definitely come in handy when I am planning my next long road trip. smiling smiley
I have received emails from companies that found my name on the MSPA database. I think that's where the Ardent invite came from. There have been other MSCs but I haven't tracked them.
plm,
Me too. But I don't see that becoming a shopper "member" will improve anything for me. These are the same folks who, in 2009, abruptly announced, in March, that shoppers were no longer welcome at their annual September conference, where a lot of training and workshops had been offered. They said that we cost them too much for them to continue to have us participate. Well, exactly 6 months, to the day, from that announcement, we held the first IMSC conference, in Las Vegas, right down the street from their MSPA conference location, and on the same dates! All they have done since then is to offer minimal public support for IMSC, while working hard behind the scenes to disparage and derail IMSC, in my opinion. Others may disagree.

My worry is that instead of getting 2 or 3 notifications for the same shop, I would end up with 4. I easily get 50 notifications of shops a day, you know, those "fun and easy" ones that are reimbursement-only, and 30 miles from home....I certainly don't need any more. If we are already with the MSPA and maybe even certified, what advantage does this membership have? I say that seriously, not sarcastically. I also have a hard time turning down free stuff, but don't want a "free" nuisance.
I guess my feeling is that anywhere I get exposure or a possible shop opportunity, why would I not sign up - particularly when it isn't costing me a dime.

And if get more emails so be it, my computer delete button works just fine.
Again, I do not mean to sound rude about it, but, as of this current moment, my tablet, phone, and laptop are not syncing. That means I have to delete each email 3 times. The more advice I get to correct the problem, the screwier the system gets.
Do you use a separate email address for shopping? You should be able to sort your incoming mail into folders based on email address. Ctrl-A to highlight them all, Delete to remove.

I only retrieve my shopping mail on my laptop and the desktop I use in my "shopping room." (I have four computers) My phone also receives them but I haven't figured out how to delete anything from the phone yet.

goldilox,
IMSC is the Independent Mystery Shoppers' Coalition, which, since 2009, has presented several 2 day conferences for and by shoppers in an effort to provide training and networking among shoppers, and to enhance professionalism among shoppers. If you do a search on "IMSC" here on "all dates" you will find information about the 2013 Conferences in Atlanta, Las Vegas and (I think) Reno.

I know what you mean. That happened to me when I first got my iPhone5. However, after I got it sync'ed through iCloud. I can delete if from either my i5, iPAD or Outlook on my laptop.

Cubbiecat, my "techy" friends have done that and not only did that problem NOT go away, different ones appeared. I have the iPhone 4. Do you think there is where the difference maybe? I should go to the Apple store but I always feel like I am walking into a swarm of bees when I go there.
Other than always being busy, the Apple store has been great with issues for me. I was having trouble getting my first 3 to charge in the car. The rep did all the diagnostics and found some weird problem. She then told me that I was on the last day of my one year warranty and she would just give me a new phone. I was a happy camper.

Awww. Unless they're killer bees, bees are good. Bees are useful. If you let them, bees can be your friends. ;-)
Can you imagine life without bees? All that free work pollinating and honey, the perfect food, to boot!

I have been thinking about having my own bee hive and I have been researching it. I am actually going to a meeting on Sunday hosted by our local bee keeper society. It is amazing what they (the bees) do for our crops.

Oh, am I slightly off topic?

You are absolutely not off topic. We need to know about bees. Tell us more.

I received a copy of this email too. However, when I went to the link it didn't work. I sent an email to MSPA and I am waiting for a response. I did want to see what this was about.
Huh? Is this like certification or what? I have silver and gold already. Don't know how much that has actually helped since my friends who have no certification have gotten the same shops as me. The only thing that has actually paid off for me is video certification and buying my own equipment.
On official behalf of the IMSC, the IMSC has no reason to believe the MSPA has been anything but supportive of the IMSC and our conferences. They have been sponsors of almost every conference and we work closely together to improve relations between companies and shoppers and our industry as a whole.
Ditto on what most everyone said. I checked it out too, they wanted $20. However, it did not mention the benefits of becoming a member and I didn't get a promo number either. Any further news on this? Anyone know the benefits of joining? Thanks.
Hi, I am new to mistery shopping and have not payed the $20 yet, would anyone share their promo code :-)?

It probably won't work unless you are silver or gold certified though. Let us know if it does, I'm curious to know.

Has anyone seen the benefit of being a member? This already seems redundant to have a certified silver or gold member signing up to become a shopper member. But then again, what would mystery shopping be without the redundancy?
There aren't any that I can see. Their "forum" is dead -- the biggest thread on there when I looked the other day I think had 21 responses. We had pages and pages here just talking about that one Walgreens shop from hell.

I was soooo tempted to post a link to THIS place over there, but figured they'd just pull it down if I did. People were asking questions but there was nobody around answering them.

I have been uninvolved lately, but do get offers from companies and (I thought), I was a member of the MSPA, or at least
my name is listed and I get referrals, so, why "join"? Thoughts are another way of making $$, although one said "cost is free, and someone else said, they're charging 20.00".
