Timing goal on fast food shop?

Just wondering if anyone knows what timing MSCs or clients are looking for on the "golden arches" walk-in. My last one took TWO minutes from the time I walked up to the counter until I had the food in my hand. On the report, I was asked "what caused the delay?" I am asked this every single time I do one of these shops, no matter how quickly I get the food. What in the world is NOT considered a delay if two minutes is too slow?

Vicky, what McDs considers appropriate timing depends upon how many people were in line and if the item was a special order. From doing about a zillion of these, though, it seems like they want the customer to receive their completed order in less than 70 to 90 seconds. A timing of more than that will almost always cause the delay inquiry to pop up.

I got the "what caused the delay?" message when my order took 45 seconds. I always assued that they just ask regardless of the actual timing.
Interesting. I've had a lot of timings under a minute, and never have had the delay inquiry pop up.

They may not be as concerned about the timing on the shop as the timing of your report. In other words, MF doesn't like shoppers to make too much money and if everyone was getting through the report quickly it would provide incentive for them to throw in a few more things to slow it downgrinning smiley

Fortunately, when I did the ONE I had in thirteen years, I had an answer! (They were making some fresh hash browns.)

Here's my question, albeit unrelated: How long does it take to get paid?

They pay for the previous month's shops on the 13th of the following month (I have direct deposit). So I got paid for all my February shops on March 13th. I have had it in my account as early as the 11th, but normally it is around the 13th.

Please time the time it takes from when you submitted your report back to us in minutes and seconds to the time you receive your paycheck. If there is a delay in receiving your pay, please let us know why. Start timing when you hit the submit button. Don't forget the seconds.

Ha-ha! What about the timing from the time I receive my pay until I spend it? Will there be enough spaces for that many minutes or will the form reflect days, months and years?

Part of what I track in my excel spreadsheet is how long it takes to get paid after I do the shop.

Hmmm, let's see. Golden Arches, the check will be somewhere between $2 and $6 after expenses, it cost you $4 in gas to get there plus the time to the bank and back to cash the check. I guess I consider it spent already. Does your stopwatch run backwards? Can you record a minus time?
I don't do Golden Arches, just guessing at the fee.
I'm pretty sure the McD reports started this year with a new question that immediately and automatically follows the timing for both walk-in and drive-thru. It asks if any of these issues were present (check all that apply), and all of the issues would explain a delay, but it really is not asking what caused the delay, just if those issues were present.
If there was a delay according to their standards (shopgal's rubric is correct) another screen follows which specifically asks about a delay and offers several possible explanations for the delay, including "Other" with an explanation field.
I love when that question comes up on the drive thru part -- "what took so long?" How the heck do I know? I don't have X ray vision, I can't see what they were doing as I drove from the speaker to the pickup window. I assume they were cooking my food. Maybe they were playing frisbee with it before bagging it up and handing it to me. I have no way of knowing why it took them three minutes instead of 90 seconds to deliver up my food. Why do they even ask that question? I could see if they asked, "Did you observe any reason for the delay, if so, what?" but "What took so long?" Are we supposed to be clairvoyant?

I pray it does not occur that the last thing I did before I died was vacuum the house or eat broccoli.
On the drive-thru portion last weekend, I was directed to wait in one of the "Reserved" parking spaces for my order . . . FOR 12 MINUTES!

Epic fail!
They want 10 seconds per customer order time. (How realisitic is that?)

If 5 people are in line, anything past 50 seconds, can be Flagged as a delay.
no wonder they cook in advance and keep things under a heat lamp.

Not many things are much nastier than a chicken nugget that's been sitting under a heat lamp for an extended period of time. Yuck! tongue sticking out smiley

Somewhere in the back of my mind, I think their standard for a non special order is less than one minute in the Dine-in. Sometimes the delay in the drive thru can be one pesky vehicle that took a long time to order and even added an item once they got to the pay window. These things always seem to occur in the vehicle right in front of me.
I'm sure you've all been waiting with baited breath: Payment came today!

Sandyf--Fortunately, the store was very close and I didn't spend much in gas. I came out
ahead, but still didn't make much. I only took the shop to get re-established with Star Wars.

Elcare and Secret--I was fortunate enough that I knew why the order took so long because
the cashier told me "It will be a minute because we're making fresh hashbrowns." Yea!
Fresh food! No heat lamps!

Interesting to know how fast the food is supposed to be ready. I would've never thought the goal would be such a short amount of time. I guess I'm used to waiting forever for fast food. lol
I did a different FF brand Friday night and it was a disaster. Only one person waiting on the inside counter and drive thru. I stood in line 24 minutes. I waited 8 minutes 24 seconds for my food in the dinning room. But what blew my mind was the order of the person in front of me. She must have order at least 10 or twelve complete combo meals, calling them by either name or number. He bill at a Fast Food place was $ 73.87!!!! (and since this was a reveal/reward they did not get the reward)
I refuse to do Golden Arches shops. Why? The test is 30 questions. The pay is ridiculously low. The food will kill you. The timing is a pain.

There are so many shops that offer far more for far less hassle.

Am I wrong?

Robinv
I don't do too many of them because I agree the food will kill you.

But as for the rest... the pay STARTS ridiculously low. In my area, they get regularly get bonused up to 3 times the initial fee. The test is 30 multiple choice questions that are very easy to answer. This takes me far less time than a well crafted narrative for another type of assignment. I use the Shop It! app on my phone and timings couldn't be easier - just tap the screen and get accurate timings down to the second.

Different strokes for different folks!
I find the pay on all fast food assignments ridiculously low. McDonald's shops are bonused pretty often. The test is easy and it only has to be taken once. The food IS junk. The timing is not worse than any other shop that requires timings, and easier than many. The McD shops overall are super easy with a fast easy report. There are so many shops that offer far more hassle.
Ditto what Austin said. The shops and reports are easy. With the bonuses, they pay me more than a lot of shops I do, that are a lot more work.
