The infamous pizza shop

An MSC called me early this week - begging me to take a shop which required photos of the pizza - six total - two from the top, two side and two with two slices turned over. I got the photos and submitted. In a matter of two days I received a phone call from the same scheduler who stated the shop rejected because I did not get all the sides of the pizza. Apparently what was seen in the view finder did not transfer. To add insult to injury I later received an email from the same MSC asking me to retake the photos. Excuse me but do they really believe I still had the pizza? IF so - that says much about their opinion regarding their client's ability to cook pizza. Please!!!

They looked fine. Anyway what I found funny was the email - asking me to retake the photos? What? Do they really believe the pizza is still there? The job hardly paid but live and learn. I won't do anymore of those unless they pay $$.
Most don't pay a fee anymore, just a reimbursement. That makes the crappy pizza the fee. Now you are not even supposed to eat the pizza in case more pictures are required? When are they just going to start asking shoppers to pay them for the privilege of shopping that place. I wouldn't spend a dime of my own money on that pizza if they were the last one on the planet. The owner has no respect for anyone but himself.

I can't help but to believe that there's either something going wrong when the MSC transfers the photos to the client or with the photo upload/resizing program that we have to use to upload to the MSC. The latter doesn't seem as likely since we use the same uploading mechanism to supply audit photos to this MSC which virtually nobody has remarked about being rejected. But doggone if at least 75% of posters on this forum haven't had trouble with acceptance of their photos for this client.
I was offered three times the base rate to do one yesterday. Had to say no. Once bitten, twice shy - I just won't risk an hour round trip on a seemingly capricious system of accepting or rejecting photos that only this client has ever had trouble with.
Not only is the pizza not so great, and the fee non-existent, the photos can be challenging.

I'm actually a semi-professional photographer. Getting the top shots of the pizza is easy. But getting the side shots and the info sign, both in correct focus they way they request it, is tricky.

So not for it, at least for me.
Two weeks ago I did my 2nd shop for them. Although all the pictures went up, I got an email saying to save everything because they were having trouble with the pictures from everyone. It did not appear they had trouble with mine specifically. So, I still have the box and papers but the pizza went to the chickens. I may or may not get reimbursed.
Based upon the comments that I have read it is amazing that anyone takes these shops.
My son's friend worked at one of those places for a while. I told him about the time they gave me double cheese and it seemed exactly the same as the single cheese. He said that the boss had the "cooks" make the same exact pizza as a single portion and would save up all the extra already paid for double portions and "treat" the staff to free pizza every night with them. My son's friend had ethical problems working at that shop and quit soon after.
I did that shop once. Learned my lesson. Now they beg me each month to go back and bonus it and add mileage reimbursement. Answer remains the same. No way.

In this case, I would take tons of photos and not just stop at the six required.

That's what I've done. Never had a problem.

I've done this shop several time and am scheduled to do it again next month. I always take more pictures then necessary and haven't had a problem getting accepted or payment. It's a super easy way to get paid to feed my family for the night so I'll keep taking them.
I nervously took the assignment after 2 recent rejections for poor quality photos. Never had a problem in 18 months before that. I took about 10 pictures of each required photo with 2 different cameras just to ensure there was no way quality would be an issue. If your pics did not transfer, could you email them directly to the scheduler so they could upload them to the site if there was a problem with your transfer?
I know I will not do this assignment and told the scheduler in no uncertain terms to never ask me again - unless the assignment became more realistic and paid better.
