Gas Station Audit - Debranding

All of that for a freakin' $11 shop fee, bgriffin? The heck with it. Not worth the headache and hassle.

I'm laughing here. I started this thread because I didn't know much last year. I'm much more experienced now! winking smiley

Back in December of 2011, I did four of these fuel debranding audits at small local airports. One was really tiny, one was small, and the other two medium-size. They paid $30 each, and at a couple they gave me a golf cart to whiz around in. The report was super-simple and quick. I wouldn't have done them for $11, but at $30 they were one of the 'fun' shops! smiling smiley

The least I've done one for was $25. The most was $60.

<Picking up from where my post left off a year ago...>
I was back three times over the following three years. Same single photo of the fading, but still deficient, building color each year. On my final visit, there was fresh paint on the building.
The owner was smiling when I entered. I just smiled back and nodded.
The owner said, "I bought the paint. [Perform procreative activity on] 'em."
It was a fresh coat of the trademark color.

<Edited because I forgot that I told most of the story last year on this thread.>

That is spectacular!

I did a group of debranding shops in the past
that I forget which brand it was for, maybe Texaco,
that I had to be a witness in court to testify that
there was indeed no more signage from the old
brand. The old brand was suing claiming they
never removed all the old signage/colors/etc

Gonna ask a dumb never-heard-of-this question:

Debranding is . . . . ? Would this be like if Texaco bought BP, you'd be looking to make sure all the green paint, logos, etc. from BP were gone?
ninamason, when you do a "debranding" shop, you're looking for anything that might indicate the brand that shouldn't be there. Yes, you've got it, like paint, logos, etc.

These are so easy to do...and easier if someone offered ME a golf cart! hahahaha..spoiled rotten auditor, hahaha
I did a debranding for a KFC once. It happened to be in a town I was already going to be in, on a street I was already driving down, so that made the $10 fee worth it.
The hardest part was getting a picture of the nearest cross street sign, as it required the building to be visible in the background.
I'd love to do these more often, easier and a lot quicker than revealed audits, and simpler than mystery shops.
You have to rename the photos with visit ID and number now? When did that start?

I think that's always been the standard. However, while I did so for the first year with them, I stopped after others on the forum suggested that it was unnecessary. Haven't done so for two years, and no problems.
I started out numbering each picture with the job number and picture number. After a year or so I stopped. Nothing happened.

I'm guessing you are all doing it for the same msc.
I do it for a smaller one. Plus some of mine
in the past include getting paid to go to court and be a
witness.

You're a mystery shopper? How did you pass the test? Just saying...
