Cell Phone Company Photo Audit- Worth It?

Hi All-

New to here and Mystery Shopping. So glad I found this site as it has provided a LOT of useful information already.

I have 4 shops under my belt now. So far, so good- I think. I guess we'll see when pay time comes smiling smiley

Anyway, my question, I am scheduled for a cell phone shop photo audit in a few weeks. Has anyone done one of these? Now that I thoroughly read the guidelines it seems very detailed with (30+) pics and multiples pages on the questionnaire. Do you think this is worth the $7 fee?

Any advice would be so appreciated.
Thanks, Kim

Personally, no. It sounds like one that would take an experienced auditor 20 to 30 minutes on site and the same with the report. That makes your earning $7 an hour or less.

No, I think those fees will go up. They are not worth it for $7.00, even if you are already in the area.
Lisa and spaztck are right. They really aren't worth it; but, stupid me, I just did one Tuesday. The store was less than 2 miles from home, and I knew there wouldn't be any problems because it's the store I use personally being a long-time customer of that provider. The traffic was constant for all 4 associates, so it took much longer than necessary.
Do the shop for the $7 since you already have it, but in future you'll likely not want to do them for less than $15 or 20. They're easy, just a bit time consuming. Take the pictures in the order of the report so it will be easier to match them up when you do the report.

I wouldn't do any shop for $7 until it was fast food and came with a reimbursement.
OP is already assigned this shop. Her fifth shop is not the time to flake. The hit to her shop rating may prevent her from getting other jobs.

Kim, do the shop, and then you will know what price to wait for in the future. But I wouldn't recommend canceling this shop just because you won't make much. None of us makes much on our first few shops -- we're learning, though, and more money will come if we do a good job on the early shops, and prove that we will honor our commitments and do a good job, even if we took a job that doesn't pay much.

Unless I missed a post, not one of us has suggested she cancel the shop. We have just answered the question that was asked. I agree that someone who has such a limited amount of experience will have to complete the audit now that the commitment has been made and consider the time a learning experience. The best time to ask is before self-assigning or requesting.

Meanwhile Kim, this one will give you a good idea of what audits are like in general. Be aware that first audits of any type take even an experienced shopper longer than any that follow and don't judge entirely by time alone.

My mistake. I took the comments to suggest, "No, don't take it," but they actually don't say that. I am, however, concerned that a new shopper might read that advice to be suggesting she should try to get out of it.

Honestly, my bigger concern now is who the hell is only paying $7 for a cell phone audit? I can certainly guess since we have one MSC who is notorious for dropping fees and it most often happens during the summer.

Thanks everyone for the input. I will do the audit and use it as a learning experience for the future. It will be my first "photo" and I have to learn somehow, right? smiling smiley Thanks again.
Good tude! After that you will be able to judge the value based on your area and if you find they have none, c'est la vie.

It must be something I have never done. I did audits at Verizon and ATT. Both very easy, about 15 minutes on the spot. But they did not require so many pictures nor did they have so many questions.
As a first time for that job, I would not worry about the $7. If you mess it up, you will not have much to regret about. Take it as a teaching class where they pay you.
I take new audits in my area in a heart beat. If I like it and I think I can do it fast, then I can work on getting them at a better fee. I see MSing one of the few jobs where they pay you to learn smiling smiley

Therein you will grow in this business, and grow as a person.
