My first problem with editors

I have been doing shops for one MSC in particular for several years. I always get 10's from them. Lately, I think they must have a new editor who wants quotes about everything. She (or he?) sent me a request to revise my report and wanted answers to six questions that I thought I had covered adequately. I had just submitted a different report to them and got a request to take out the quotes because it couldn't be verified what exactly was said. So in this report, I put limited quotes, and this editor wanted a quote in response to nearly every answer. You would think the editors at the same MSC could at least agree on how they want the questions answered.

Plus I didn't see the email that was sent to me yesterday morning until about an hour ago so I didn't get the revisions done by 11:15 AM when she (or he) wanted them. I hope I still get paid for this.

Just wanted to vent. smiling smiley

Ugh, hope you don't have any more issues! I am used to getting 10's and maybe 9's, but I got a 7 from a proofreader for a company I already have a history with the other day, who said that two points were deducted because they had to contact me for clarification or more information. Only, they hadn't. I emailed the proofreader asking about it and <<crickets>> I'm not going to lose sleep over it - it's not an issue of potential non-pay or anything - but it was a little surprising.

The quotes thing..that's a new one for me. Good luck!
316 posts and this is the first time you have run afoul of an editor? You are the shop messiah. Come let us adore you.

Michael: Too bad that if I toggle you everyone else will still see your snarky comment.
Wow. I am clearly no one's "buddy" here, but I intended no insult. You go ahead and toggle whatever tickles you, but I remain seriously impressed. Editors and conflicting instructions have been a headache to me since I started and I figured it was a universal problem.

If you click "Toggle User Visibility" under a forum member's name in a post, all posts made by that forum member will be hidden from you. Anytime that forum member posts in a thread, you will see =Hidden Message= so you will know there was a post but you will not see it unless you click the "Hidden Message" notation. You can un-toggle a forum member again by once again clicking the "Toggle User Visibility" under their name.
Thanks Austin, I certainly see how that could be a handy tool.

Michael, I didn't see your comment as hateful, I thought you were being serious. Probably the smart-ass side of me, that some people don't have (probably to their benefit) but the way I read it you were issuing a compliment. My daddy always said it's better to be a smart-ass than a dumb -ass.
Sorry if I took this wrong, but I read it as being sarcastic. I shop mostly part time and I have another part time job (it was full time until 2010). Plus I'm old and just can't work as fast or as late as lots of people on this forum. So I don't do tons of shops and I rarely have any trouble with editors. I'm not bragging--I only shop for MSC's who don't give me any trouble. smiling smiley

I was upset that one editor wanted everything quoted and the other didn't want any. The shops were for the same client, too. I had written a report a few weeks ago and this same editor requested that I revise the report and put in more quotes. So, for the next shop, I quoted a lot and then got a request to edit the report, take out the quotes and paraphrase. In this most recent report, I didn't quote and at all and got a request to add in quotes for six questions. I think it must be two different editors, but there's no way to know which one will be reviewing your report.

I'll keep shopping for this MSC though because I like them and I like the types of shops they have. They pay well within 30 days. I posted this because it was late last night and I was frustrated and wondered if anyone else had a problem like this or any suggestions.
