Revealed Audits

I am about to do a route of audits. Does anyone have any tips, tricks, etc?
Thanks

Depends on the MSC and the type of audit. If you name the MSC don't say the actual client, just the industry type.

When you take the photos, make one circuit around the property snapping photos as you go, have a checklist of required photos so you don't forget any. I don't take them in order of upload because you may end up zig-zagging back and forth to get them. This way you're more likely to grab the photos you need before someone may have issue with you being there. I've encountered that before where someone changes their mind about allowing me to be there after they said ok. Also, snap your photos of the overall distance or main ID sign last in case you have to take those from the roadside or somewhere that's not on their property. This way you've grabbed all your photos, even if it's on the fly.

Unlike Cettie, I always take the overall first before I enter the property otherwise I forget it. It seems that as soon as I get into the car I am onto my next stop and always forget that pesky overall shot if I do it last.

Make a cheat sheet and a list of mandatory photos so that you can check off pics as you take them and not forget. Make your cheat sheet in order YOU do things not the way the MSC may have laid out the questionnaire. Sometimes it is easier that way.
Following an audit form the way any MSC designs it is guaranteed to be the most inefficient use of your time. It never ceases to amaze me how many times they would have us covering the same real estate.

The only time I trot back and forth at a fast pace is when the manager insists on walking right along with me every step of the way. There is one who does that every time and I give him a good run then when he's out of breath he goes back to his office and leaves me alone to do my visit in peace.

When I was doing grocery store inspections, this would happen regularly. I used to slow down to a crawl, fill out every space on my forms in slow laborious printing, apologize to the owner or manager for taking so much of his time, etc. By the time I had worked my way down the second aisle, they had usually gotten thoroughly tired of the whole business and found something more interesting to do.

gypsy, I'm "thinking on" taking a small route of these types of shops this month, but have never done them before. Can you let us know how your route goes, and provide any words of wisdom to those of us who have yet to venture into this territory!

Sounds like you've gotten some great advice here; good luck!

Just one more word of wisdom---if you have to do a zoo make sure you have the ability to out-run a horny goat.
