Shell audits photos ?

I have just assign for the Shell audit, just to try that. The guidelines looks horrible. Are these audits very time consuming?

According to guidelines the auditor have to take 17 photos and up to 31 additional photos of each non-compliant. That looks like a very intensive photographic session. Could you let me know if you often have to take non-compliant photos? Do you have take many of these during an audit?

depends on the place. some places are well-kept and you won't find much... others you will be snapping pictures non-stop
I did one where I had about 80 photos..they didn't know what 'compliance' meant..it was a joke.
No Shells around these parts anymore. Cedco which I think is Valero, took over. Tore down the station etc. Nice looking business now. smiling smiley
Shells are on my 10 foot pole list...unless they are paying well. Like others have said, if the place isn't taken care of there will be tons of pictures. In addition to the required pictures the noncompliant pictures can get extensive. Most Shells are well taken care of with few noncompliant issues, but then sometimes you get that one that is a nightmare.
Worst shop in the history of my 9 month shopping experience. Horrible, took me a total of almost 4 hours. I also had around 80 pictures, the place was disgusting. The pictures took forever to upload and attach to the correct guideline. I did it for $10 and swore the whole time I was doing it I would never do it again. I never have and I wouldn't do one for less than $50. I strongly suspect nobody will ever pay me that much so I think my gas station days are over.

Sorry to lay that on you, I should have waited until after you completed the shop. I have been told they get easier as you do more. Part of the time consumption was the 37 page manual you have to keep flipping through to see what things are supposed to look like. I can certainly see where that time would go much faster when you don't have to do that and can just take the pics and leave.
Wow 4 hours? What a mess. Luckily I have never had one that bad. I think the longest it has taken me is an hour. The manual is a pain, but once you do a few and know what you are looking for it becomes easier. I have done so many, I hardly ever have to refer to the manual. It usually takes me 20 to 30 minutes to do one now.
They take me about 15-20 minutes each, on average. I usually have on the order of 12 photos to upload...again, on average. I have had a few that take a little longer because I have to take a few more pictures, but I can take a picture in 1-2 seconds. Even if I had to take 100 pictures, it only takes 1-2 seconds each to take those photos-which would be about 3 minutes of actual picture taking, so I'm not sure how I could productively spend 4 hours at one location.

I have done several hundred of these, I make routes of them, and they are spectacularly easy once you get the hang of them.

On the other hand, this particular brand takes the longest to enter on the archaic site. The green station take about half as much time to enter as Shell does.

Do not be put off by the long form, they format it to look like it has much more to look for than you really do. It's because of all the drop down boxes with choices for 'no' answers.

The manual is thick, but that is because it has lots and lots of pictures that are large enough you can actually make out what is in them.

My first one probably took me a half hour...just to get used to what I was looking for. I can do them on automatic now, and very rarely have anything come back for clarification.
I didn't spend 4 hours at the store, I said it took a total of almost 4 hours including report and pictures. I had to resize everything, not to mention I wasn't familiar with the website, took a little getting used to having to match the pictures up. Inexperience at a first shop.

Unfortunately put such a bad taste in my mouth I won't even consider them. Especially when I can do banks for $20 that take 5-10 minutes at the bank and 5 minutes for the report. Much easier way to earn my fees.
At first, I would flip through the books item by item at the shop. Now I take all of the required photos on site and anything that might be non compliant. I find it easier to go through the book once I get home, so I only have to look at the pages one time to determine if the three different issues with whichever part of the shop I am looking at are violations or not.

When I try to do that on site, I find I am constantly turning to the same page for different reasons throughout the day. Plus it is harder to juggle the camera, forms, book, etc. while walking around.
I maybe invest an hour all told in each one. That includes on site and submitting the report. Resizing pics is not necessary if you take them at the correct resolution in the first place. If you cannot, it's easy to find a program that will resize batches of pics at the same time.
