Scans vs PDF

Has anyone else noticed that editors are now asking for PDF versions of your receipts? I scan mine in .jpg format, because it is a universal format. I crop it in, so it is the receipt only and is "right side up". The free pdf reader from adobe does not allow one to create a pdf and save it. (If it does, please let me know). I have been doing this for a very long time, and until this past week, there has never been an issue with my scans. I sent a "help" request to the last editor, because it stated that my receipt needed to be clearer, closer up, and not at an angle. A flat bed scan removes camera shake, it is not possible to be at an angle, and is cropped to show the receipt only. I even pulled up the receipt to verify that my crop was not skewed. I may be taking this a little too personally, but these types of things make me look at companies without my rose colored glasses. Over the last month or so, my glasses have become dark indeed. Perhaps it is just winter and will improve with the advent of spring,,,

The only MSC that requests it is service sleuth, as I can remember. It is extremely annoying to have to convert them into pdf. Another MSC that used to require it has dropped it and accepts only jpg.
These recent requests were from companies that I have always submitted .jpg with. I have worked with one for over a year and the other for several years. Hopefully it is just some sort of odd coincidence.
Double-check the options on your scanner, in case you're like me. It took me a while to realize that I could tell my scanner to scan it as a PDF.
If all else fails, you can use primo pdf to "print" your photo to PDF.

All my receipts are scanned on my printer in .jpg They are the right size and very clear. So, that is a good thing. smiling smiley
I can't remember the last time I scanned a receipt. I still just take pictures with my iPhone and upload them all as .jpg, including those going to Sleuth. Nobody has complained.

CutiePDF is free and it works, that's what I use.

Thanks Kathee, I am looking into that one. I really hope this is not a trend, because it is one more step to slow me down. I am not THAT fast to begin with, lol. I am with you Canuck, I have been scanning all along, thinking it would be the most dependable for a clear and easily used image. Happy Trails all !!!
I had a similar problem until I checked the options on my printer. This may be a simple fix - it was for me - and I no longer have problems. Good luck.

That program is VERY SIMPLE and it takes no more time that saving the pic already does. When you go to transfer them into your computer to begin with just open this program and save it as a pdf to start.

The program has never interfered with my computer and I never get spam mail (in fact I don't get any email from them because I unchecked the box.)

i think i have a program called 'dopdf'

i use word and then 'print' but it just saves it on the dopdf.
I use LibreOffice, free MSOffice clone and it lets you export to pdf. I avoid doing it unless I have tothough, I prefer taking a nice pic with my phone.
I do not use pics, I use scans, so it really does add a step. I take very good pictures, but prefer to scan to avoid the possibility of blur and the need to crop. It seems to be an easy step, but every step adds time to the project.

I had a comment from Service Sleuth last week, "Please make sure all images are in PDF form in the future. Thank you."

I hadn't had a problem before this, either, and I also use my iPhone for almost all receipt scans.
I just got the dreaded email from Service Sleuth 2 days ago telling me my report is on hold as I can not upload my receipt as jpeg because they only want PDF. Just one more hassle. I use the free Nitro Reader to do my converting and so far, it works like a charm and it lets me save the pdf receipt into Word.
