I agree these types of audits are PITA. So, I only do them if the fee is $40 or more. The Kmart in my area are going out of business. One closed in December 2013 and two more are looking to closed at least by Easter or Memorial Day. Which ever comes sooner. But the other ones in the nearby town is remaining open, at least for now. One of the ones I audit, is closing, so I know it was not my auditing.
I cut my auditing time down to 1 hour and 15 mintues. How? ----------------->1) You do not have to audit each department. 2) You need to look for "certain" items or merchandise. 3) Every department have those "certain" merchandise. (certain merchandise is "SHOP YOUR WAY/SYW" "CLEARANCE", "misplaced items", "percentage off", "BOGO" and more). 4) look at your audit form, does it ask for all department audits or does it say also "randomly selected merchandise?" I opt for the randomly selected merchandise. Because you pick 85 items and Kmart is checking the price.(the package price, the shelf price and the price that is coming up at the register.)
The tedious part is writing down the SKUs( but like PLUSHA said, "have the Kmart/Sears associate read them off to you."
and keeping your audit form in sight of placing numbers. I am as blind as they come, but there is nothing wrong with my hearing. and if she has to repeat the number, well,,,,,,,,,, she just repeat them.
I selected the Departments, before I step into the store. Each department has those "certain" merchandise. and I select what 5 to 10 items I am asking to be scan by the associate. I also have found out that if I have the SKU right and I did not hear the name of the merchandise, I GOOGLED the SKU. Luckily it only happened on two house ware appliances that were priced wrong on the shelf, and the associate made some sort of excuse.
and COMFORTABLE shoes.
BTW, eat something before you go and have something to snack on if you find the audit going into a second hour,
