This sounds like a, don't touch with a ten foot pole. Maybe it's legit but why is she posting on a mystery shopping site besides being desperate to cover her cancellation. She has four days to run an ad in the newspaper or online.
Buy yourself a copy of the Unofficial Guide to Disneyland. Great, great touring plans which reduce lines and hit the highlights. Much cheaper than paying somebody for the same information, as well.
I dont get it. A tour guide needs a tour guide?

Why are we attacking her? If I lived near Disneyland and was familiar with the park, I'd be all over this. Sure, it's not mystery shopping... but it's a way to earn extra cash and possibly open you up to future work opportunities. Get your daily exercise done and make $150 paid same day. Nice.

She probably is an independent tour guide who uses other guides when needed and the person who she had lined up has cancelled. This is fairly common at Disney and not ten foot pole material especially to those who are familar with the parks. I would do this if I was local. It's a way to make extra money. I agree it's a job that's not for everyone but mystery shoppers are somewhat willing and available to often take last minute type gigs that are profitable.

I had to read her post a few times but I'm guessing she operates a tour guide business and the tour guide who cancelled on her was her employee? All this confusion would have been avoided if she wrote something like, "a tour guide who was supposed to work for me" instead of referring to them as "my tour guide".

She explained this in the post. For starters, she is a mystery shopper herself. Look at the post count. She didn't sign up here yesterday just to post that. Second, she posted here because she doesn't have any other group of people she can reach out to. Third, there are probably a few hundred people here who have their lives structured to grab quick, last-minute opportunities requiring non-specific skills (we don't train for what we do; we follow the script we're given) if the pay is right.

I, also, would be all over this if I still lived in southern Cal, and I was even trying to think if I knew anyone over there, shopper or not, who would be suitable for the job of, apparently, walking around all day herding tourists in the right direction. But the only two people I could think of have health issues that would preclude a day of walking around.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Disneygirl has been around our community for a while and I will vouch for her if anyone was considering this, but hesitant. I would help her out if I was available....
You are absolutely correct, dspeakes and Steve; I certainly do apologize for not reading her post as was meant.
Recruiting here makes perfect sense. She has access to reliable independent contractors.

Some may have also seen this the wrong way because in the news lately
is there are peoplehiring disabled people as their guides at disney so they can
use their disability to get to the front of the lines.

Part of the reason why Disney has restricted front of the line access now
because of the abuse of the policy.

dspeakes, SoCalSteve, LisaSTL, Thank you so much for your kind response. My intention was not to be confusing, or to alarm anyone. I need some help, people here need
jobs, and it really is as simple as that. The common ground here is always that people don't get paid enough, and they have to wait to get paid, so how would me offering to pay in cash at the end of the day be something untoward? It's a busy time of year, so I always have a "second" with me. I never "jump lines," or go the handicap route. Disney has not curtailed the front of the line guides, they are no charging $360.00 an hour for that perk.

Warm regards, I wish you lived closer toosmiling smiley dspeakes.

I live less than 5 miles from Disneyland but I don't have a pass (WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!). I had a pass for years but gave it up and now have a Knotts pass. I am available 4/17 and would love to go. I'll PM you!

I wish I lived closer to Southern California because I would have loved to help out with this kind of thing. Hope you were able to find someone.
