Shops for younger teens?

I was able to take my 14 year old on a couple shops when the MSCs allowed it, and she really wants to start doing it herself. I know that some of the ICA's specify you have to be 13 or older to sign up, but most shops either directly require you be 18, 21, or 25, or require you to do things that a 14 year old couldn't, like driving or checking into a hotel. Does anyone have any ideas of MSCs that have shops for younger shoppers that she could get started at? I told her that she can start doing tobacco compliance when she turns 18, but until then she just wants to get her feet wet and make a little money on her breaks.

An ICA is a contract and don't you have to be 18 years old to legally enter into a contract? The video age compliance shops requiring a 13 year old are not actually assigned and paid to the child are they?

I have no idea how it works. That's why I'm asking. I just remember seeing the 13 year old requirement to sign up with several companies.

What would a 13 or 14 y.o. shop? Financial institutions - nope. Auto - nope. Theatres - nope. Furniture - nope. Jewelry - nope. The only thing I can think of is ff shops, jon.
I think you have to be of major age to sign a contract so the company can hold you responsible. A child can sign, but cannot be held accountable.

Just saying. Don't know for sure though.
I haven't seen any MSCs that contract with shoppers less than 18, although I haven't been looking. The only one that definitely comes to mind is Market Force - their requirement is "You must be at least 20 years old and have a minimum of a high school education."
ive seen shops that have the teen sign up in the past
and the company covers themselves by having the
parent sign a permission slip allowing the child to do the shops.
These are generally age compliance shops.

If I remember correctly, and there is a good chance I don't, a registered shopper accompanies those 13 to 17 year olds on compliance shops, submits the report and is paid directly. They did require some information on the child, but I don't think that included anything like their SSN.

If you think about it, 16 and 17 years olds can be employed and as employees they are protected by labor laws. We don't have any of those protections.

That is the case with some companies but I know one that will let
the 16 or 17 year old do the shop as I had a friend of mines kids
do shops and they let them register and enter the reports on their
own as long as they were comfortable with it and not nervous about
buying underage product. they gave them a letter and contact in
case something went wrong(police showed up) so they wouldnt
get in trouble.

I've seen comic book stores, video game shops and pizza (think Chuck E Cheese) for 13 year olds that you must bring along...smiling smiley

In my area I've seen posts for liquor store and lottery ticket compliance shops, video game and trendy clothing stores that can only be performed by teen shoppers. But these are all offered by Canadian MSCs. I'm not sure if they have shops in the US.
Yes, for the liquor store, lottery ticket, and video game shops the teens have to be accompanied by an adult. But I think the trendy clothing shops they can do on their own. I'll have to double check that...

Perhaps this is a place to ask this question. I think I have seen shops where a young person tries to buy cigarettes. If they sell them to her does she then keep them? We don't want cigarettes.
Yes you keep them. There is always a trash can. Just because you walk out of a store with cigarettes doesn't mean you have to smoke them. smiling smiley

Please try Confero. They only have one shop open to teens (that I know of) but it's simple, if it's available in your area, and the fees are pretty good, too.
With the cigarette shops, sometimes I end up buying them because they didn't check my ID. My husband gives them to someone at work, and they are thrilled. I am not going to stop that person from smoking, so the cigarettes might as well get used.
my son is fifteen. been doing it since he was like three with me. he's very good. i recently asked a co for pizza jobs b/c he's done it w/me since he was a toddler.. they said no too due to legalities.. i'm going to ask when he is sixteen later this year. why not? I just input.. he does most of them easily.

MF says on their website that you have to be 18, not 20.

I've seen shops that require younger teens that are 13-16, such as movie audits, but I'm pretty sure at least one of the people that go have to be at least 17 or 18. Don't know any younger teens, so I never thought to look into those shops that deeply.

It could be that Market Force has different information in different places - that would not be unusual for them, but the quote about 20 years old being their requirement was a direct quote from the Market Force Apply to Be a Shopper page: [www.applymarketforce.com]

"What are the requirements for being a mystery shopper? You must be at least 20 years old and have a minimum of a high school education. You need excellent observational skills and must be very detail oriented. Most shops require a digital watch that displays seconds or a stopwatch for timing the store’s service. Access to a computer is required and high-speed access is highly recommended. A digital camera is necessary for higher paying audit-type assignments."
Well, if you have a smart phone, why couldn't the younger teen do the shops that are available via apps like
Gigwalk? I'm not sure, I think they asked for my birthday, but who's to say you can't....well...I put
in my real birthday, but I was not happy to do that. It makes me nervous to have personal info on
my smart phone. Especially REAL info! But there wasn't any contract, if I recall they only asked for
my paypal e-mail. I do NOT know if PayPal has age restrictions, however!

Why should there be an age restriction on walking into Walmart, taking 2 photos, answering a few
questions right on the phone app, send, and receive a few dollars in your PayPal account?

cease
I know that BestMark has had some age compliance for video games, but they are assigned to the adult who brings a young adult along.
A person not of the age of majority [18 in most jurisdictions] cannot legally enter into a contract which is what our ICA's are.
