Papa John's discussions -- combined threads

I did a PJ shop yesterday and got notice today that it was rejected with no specific details on what was wrong. I am shocked. I have done about 10 of these shops with no problems in the last 2 months. I have not been able to contact anyone at the mystery shopping site. Has anyone else have this happen and what was the issue? I cannot figure out what I could have done so wrong that they completely deleted my report instead of asking a question to clarify something. I am really stressed and upset about this, I work very hard to give good and accurate reports.

It could be nothing more than a shadow or glare on the picture, not quite a perfect angle, the editor had a burrito for lunch. I've only done one of these and didn't have a problem but if you check the other threads here, you'll see that many people have had shops rejected for no apparent reason, usually some real or imaginary imperfection in the photos.

Don't take it personally. If you like the pizzas, keep doing the shops. If you don't like the pizzas (I wasn't thrilled), find something else to do. There's tons of Little Caesar's in some areas and I think three different MSC's shop them so they shouldn't be hard to find.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I would consider it a badge of honor to be rejected by a Papa John's. The pizza is beyond awful.
I have looked at my photos one by one and they are the same quality, angle, etc as all my previous shops. They said I had to be "re-trained". I read all the instructions again and still cannot figure out what I could have done wrong.
The editor ate a bad burrito and had to take it out on someone. Don't let it get you down. You just hit the "bad editor lottery" this week. Next week it will be someone else, maybe me. I'm probably due for an arbitrary rejection since I've never had one yet.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I wasn't paid for one..no email or any notice. I don't now which MSC (2 do PJ in my area). That is a lot of money for me to lose and I hate the pizza. I noticed months later when I logged on to possibly do another one. There was just a note on their site saying payment was on hold. Every other company sends email notices or sometimes calls...and yes I do check my spam. I used to dutifully chekc back with all the companies I recently did shops with to see if there were any notices, but since I had always been contacted if others wanted clarification, I got lax as it seemed to be a waste of time.
they should give you an opportunity to fix it....i used to take extar pictures and could have possibly used an alternat pic
I got deleted for forgetting to select the required photo size setting on my digital camera. The pictures were too small for editors to see and one of the employees even told me that my pictures were too small. I like Papa John's Pizza especially the garlic sauce and the pepper you get with the pizza. Fortunately for me the mystery shop company is still calling me up to do shops even after I had a deleted shop and the mystery shopping company even compensated me for paying me on the next shop so I got money for the reimbursement, the shopper's fee and compensated for the money that I would have gotten if I haven't had been deleted. And yes I did get compensated for the deleted shop on the following shop. So I thought that was neat that they were willing to compensate me for the deleted shop which was no fault but my own plus the price of the pizza and a shopper's fee.
Same exact thing happened to me ~ and like you, it was the same camera, same setting, same lighting, same photography technique, everything. I fought and they paid me, and offered me another one, assuring me that the editing crew had just gotten overzealous and it wouldn't happen again, my photos were fine.

So I did it and the was rejected for the same reason. I fought and got paid that time, too; and never did another. :/

Dad & I like the pizza (and the garlic sauce) too.

I just checked mine that I did a shop for on Friday and it says deleted. It was bonused and they begged me to do it. Not again. I would rather pay $10 for the pizza and not deal with that.

The pizza order was $8.43 - I ordered a large pepperoni. Also, an error message did come up that said check the price and I did but it is not like I can add more to it. Not sure why the price was low but I think this is their way of getting out of paying for the bonuses. They don't have enough shoppers as it is.

Hilarious. I did one on Wednesday night. Forgot to change the settings on camera so my photos were too small. Didn't realize it until I had one of the shops submitted and was down to the last photo on the second shop (I did two shops at once). I went ahead and submitted expecting to hear from them. Just checked and mine appears to have gone through.

The "retrained" message is pretty standard. I had a problem with my first/last PJ's shop and even after speaking with two employees, resubmitting photos and multiple emails, it was still rejected. It was SO not worth the time and effort.

I don't think I even want to attempt shops for this MSC's other clients.
This is the only shop this MSC has in my area. Shops are often bonused to $25 so I don't mine doing them. Another company also shops them in my area and my family could have pizza 5 nights a week if I were willing to do the shops so my guess is there is a lack of shoppers for this area. This may be one of the few times they need me more than I need them.
The only time I got hooked on this shop was a notice that one store had guessed I was the shopper, and they wouldn't let me do any more shops there using the same cell phone number. Then I got a call for a shop there and I took it, but my wife was at Disney World and took her cellphone so I had to use mine again. I think it went through, but I shopped at a later, different time than I usually did.
I've never had a shop rejected though.
My camera takes pictures that are too big for them so I have to resize them before I download them. If I forget, their program gives me a message and resizes them for me. it takes a long time to download them if I don't resize them first so I do to their required 1600x1200. I wonder if I forgot to convert my receipt page from a pdf to a jpg. Wouldn't they just say convert it and submit rather than deleting the whole shop?
I only did one once but wouldn't ever do it again. I think given enough time everyone will have a rejected shop from this company for no apparent reason.
I've actually done their shops for years, for 2 different MSCs, but this weekend was the last straw. I just had a shop rejected b/c one of 4 slices was "not cut all the way through." Really? Really? Can we be nitpickier than that? I don't even like their pizza all that much, but I was doing the scheduler favor. Learned my lesson. Never again.

Shopping the greater Los Angeles area and beyond
I've never done those and will never do them and I can't stand looking/hearing the owner in his commercials.
I did one once. Had never eaten there before and the last time the scheduler called me I said "Tyler, I mean this literally. YOU COULD NOT PAY ME to eat there again." Food arrived cold and my BIL and I both got sick on it. He was horrified enough to offer me a $25 bonus and I still said no.
"Brother-in-law" (I think).

I have done them, when bonused $25. Never had a problem, and I like the pizzas.

Wow. The store didn't cut a piece of the pie all the way through? That's something you THINK the
client would WANT to know! How is that the shopper's fault?

I believe that this was a piece of pizza that the shopper was supposed to cut in half, (again). So, if it's not cut all the way through, then they don't get to see what a cross-section of newly-cut crust looks like.
PJ's pizza is gross and the employees are very poorly treated. Peyton Manning owns 25 franchises. He's welcome to them!
Wow. Been a while since I did one (I no longer qualify for them), and I didn't have to do that. I did have to turn 2 pieces upside-down!

Oh, don't worry! They still ask for that too! winking smiley
Hmmm... Interesting. I have a Little Caesar's shop tomorrow. Based on the information in the instructions, they are very picky about the photos.
By the time you're done taking pics of the pizza, Barnabas, it's cold and coagulated. ICK.

Coagulated? As opposed to say, liquid pizza? winking smiley

And add me to the list of likely to never again do PJ shops.
