A question about the Exxon-Mobil audits

I don't want to say anything to hint at the MSC involved. But, I remember that at some time, when I was signing up for these mystery & revealed audits, I read that they did not want me to do more than a certain number per day. But, I haven't seen that information since. Does anyone know if that's something they are enforcing, and, if so, what the number is? (I know I could ask them, but I don't want to pester them too much.)

I looked back over my spread sheet and I've done seven in one day with no issues. I don't recall seeing a limitation anywhere but I may have missed it.

It popped up when I was selecting shops, too. However, I asked a scheduler about that and she told me there was not a limit. I proceeded to do more than 5 shops in one day and nothing was said about it.

I want to learn how to do this shops! But just reading the instructions, I feel so frustrated...
Gaby, do you have questions about the shops? Have you done any gas stations at all? How can we help you?

Gaby they're pretty straightforward really. I was just sick with nerves when I did my first one many years ago but now I don't even given them a second thought. I just get in, do the job, get out and on my way.

I am so glad that others feel the same way I do with a
"new" shop!

Gaby, I too found the material for the shop overwhelming.

I've been doing gas stations for just a couple weeks, and
I now find them quite simple -- especially compared to
other shops.

Thank you for the answers!

Gaby, as others have said, study the material carefully, and then just go in and do them. For your first ones, take extra photos. If you're not sure if something is a problem, take a photograph of it anyway. You can decide when you're at home, sitting down.

Before you leave, go through your photos and make sure that you have a photograph of each pump. You'll probably be shooting them out of sequence, as other cars come and go, so this is essential. Make a list of the numbers that you've taken.

And, double-check all your photos while you're at it. Make sure that they're in focus.
I have been doing only 5 per day, as per instructions. Next time I speak with them I'll be a little inquisitive. Sometimes you get different answers from different schedulers.

Gaby - the first one is a bit intimidating but they get easier the more you do. My suggestion is to apply for two near your home and see how you like them. The reason I suggest near your home is that you can easily return if you made a mistake, left out a photo or took a blurry picture.
Thanks everyone! My goal for next month is to shop a gas station!

About two months ago I was schedule to shop a Exxon Mobil, I felt so overwhelming just reading the instructions, that I end up canceling the shop. BTW, the scheduler was so nice and she completely understood how I was feeling, she told me that it was not a problem and that they did not want a shopper doing a shop if they are not comfortable with it. This shops are still available in my job board, so I am glad this was not a bit deal for them, as it was for me. I felt horrible for canceling...

So, I will, for sure, have some questions in the near future, and will keep you guys update winking smiley

Thanks again!
Maybe someone will share their "cheat sheet" with you, Gaby.

(heart)

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
I did seven yesterday.

My "cheat sheet" is pretty simple. It's called "take your camera." You will need the loo, the main ID, the site overview and each pump facing. Instead of recording such details as what brands of oil there are, or what kinds of credit apps are near the counter, I just snap a pic. Some gas shops want the oil, the outside of the door, the counter, and the building. Some don't. I just snap 'em all for each station. Click, click, click…. and off I go to the next shop. I print off the first page, and use it for details like time in and out, and the employee's name and description.
The first gas station I applied for I was trying to fill a time gap I had to get between two postal shops that had to be two hours apart. I thought I could slide a gas station in between them. After I got the docs I was afraid I couldn't get it done in time and canceled without repercussions, just told them it was more work than I would have time for. The next time I did it as a solo shop without any time pressure and it was fine. The paperwork is intimidating because they show all these possibilities, pump styles, toppers, ears -- it's a whole language you have to learn. Once you go there and look at things you'll realize it's not so hard and they just get easier after that. I'm not real fond of gas station audits but I'm no longer afraid of them. You'll do fine. Just allow plenty of time and don't forget your receipts. I had to redo my first gas station because I forgot to get the inside receipt and CoRI was unforgiving. Luckily it was a local station and they let me redo it the next day so I wasn't even out any mileage.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I had done a couple of these gas station shops for the first time, in one day and found my biggest issues was downloading and submitting all the photos... seem to take forever, could not image sending in the reports for 5 or more in a single day! of course everything gets easier the more you do it but..
Camero, if you are downloading the pictures one by one inside the report that can take forever. Don't download pictures inside the report. Fill in all your other data and then hit submit. You will eventually get to a screen where you can download all the pictures at one time and it will go quickly.

Yes it did take forever.. all night actually for 2 shops, but it was my first gas station Audits and my first shop for this MSC, so I pressed on. Great to know!! Thanks for the tip and advice.
