I attended the Chipolte training today...

jrwb6e,
I agree. The chips and drink boost the price, and they have to be purchased.

Both the entrée and chips are mandatory purchases, but in my market, a drink is not required. Are you required to purchase a drink?
In my market a drink is required. They ask that you purchase an entre, chips, and a drink specifically because they are supposed to put 3 items on a tray but are not required to for 2.

Interesting the regional differences re ordering a drink. Although I would order a drink if I were shopping in your location where it is required, I always order water and so do most of those I dine with. When I eat out, whether it is fast food, fast casual or fine dining, unless I am required by the guidelines to order a drink, I order a glass of water. I don't believe ordering a glass of water incites suspicion in any way.
It has nothing to do with suspicion. They want to know if they're putting 3 items on a tray or not.

No, I wasn't responding to your post, bg, when I said ordering water does not incite suspicion. My comment about ordering water not inciting suspicion was directed to jrwb6e who stated that his guidelines do not require him to order a beverage but he does because he believes not ordering one incites suspicion. In your market, where ordering a drink to generate a tray is required, I would order a drink to generate the offer of a tray. In my market (and jrwb6e's market), where a drink is not required, I would not order one because I see nothing about requesting a glass of water rather than a soda that incites suspicion. I think there are many people, whether mystery shoppers or not, who order a glass of water wherever they dine.
Oh yes, in my extended family (parents, brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews) at least half of them would order water in a restaurant.

Oh, wow. Someone with 7 posts asks that question about Chipotle. That makes it difficult.

It doesn't matter who the MSC is because a shopper attends the training by invitation only. And I was just invited after being a shopper for quite a while.
Buteos it actually DOES makes a difference and although we cannot name names for our ICA if that person is not in the data base for the company they will never get an invite. We know it is invite only but you still have to be registered.

Actually, I do not believe this MSC prohibits the naming of their client. There are threads here that name this MSC and their client, Chipotle.
My point is IT DOES MATTER who the client is..... if John Doe is not signed up they will never get an invite. Just because YOU did does not mean the next John Doe will be signed up with that company. So it DOES matter. And FYI I AM signed up with them but am waiting for one to be built in my city. Hard to shop if there are not any.....

Good for you.

Which was the point of my post about someone with 7 posts asking that question. The MSC is very open about their client and there seems to be an unwritten rule that the whole don't name client/MSC doesn't apply to Chipotle. Hard to explain that to a newbie though.

I just saw on Jobslinger that they're having a training class in my area. For the shops, can you purchase any entrée or do they tell you what to buy? I'm vegetarian so that definitely limits my restaurant shops.

I always, always order the Veggie Bowl except for the one time I tried their tofu sofritos and thought it was awful. I have probably done 100 jobs for them and they never seem to have a problem with it. The guacamole is fantastic and is free on the Veggie Bowl!
I was not invited to training thru their list. I was sent an invite by the scheduling company which sponsors? the sassie msc's.
I always ask for water....even though I do not pay for the water the cup makes three things so they give me a tray every time. My market does not require water.
Invite only? Jobslinger is pretty open to find.... And it WAS posted.....
