Rude Schedulers

The only schedulers that I talk to are the ones in Georgia for MF. I love them and their cute accents - will not answer the foreign calls.

My experience this past winter was just the opposite. I even received emails saying it was expected you'd need extensions because of the snow. Because I use public transportation, I have asked to reschedule shops for bad rain/thunderstorms too. Aside from the discomfort, arriving at most shops looking windblown with frizzy hair and wet clothing erodes my confidence somewhat. It's not too smart to be outside in thunderstorms, so they can just deal with it. So far, I haven't had any problems. I am sure some schedulers are more understanding than others. I think it's crazy to expect shoppers to shop in blizzard conditions like what much of the country repeatedly had this winter. There were plenty of snow emergency dates where you weren't supposed to drive at all!
Well I had a 2 day route scheduled with shops from 5 different companies. Several shops on the way up, a hotel shop overnight, and then shops on the way home. I could have made it up there, but I would have been stuck there for at least 2 days without being able to go anywhere. The other companies were all very understanding. The scheduler for the 1 shop I had with this company replied with an email that complained about it being rescheduled, talked about how they were never supposed to rescheduled shops for this client but she would in this case, and then said that it absolutely had to be done on the rescheduled date "or else."

Or else - does that mean you will not get the crappy $10 shops anymore? How dare them try and intimidate IC's.
bgriffin, "or else" what? It's probably not like they could have gotten anyone else to do the shop! I agree that's rude and no way should you get stuck somewhere because of some unaccommodating and insensitive scheduler and/or client.
My reaction would have been, "Bite me." This winter was tough on shoppers and schedulers alike. Without fail, every company and every scheduler I had the pleasure of dealing with was accommodating and concerned. When the weather is so bad roads are closed and state governments are requesting non-essential trips be cancelled, what are the chances the client's store is even open and/or staffed? If it was I would rethink giving that client my money, shop or not.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Barb Harris from Kern/KSS is the one scheduler I repeatedly have issues with when I deal with her.
First there was a question I had regarding payment on my first Kinesis shop. I had to contact her multiple times for 2 weeks before she finally got back to me and took care of things, then acted like I was a fool for bugging her so much about it.
Next I applied for another Kinesis shop. By the time she approved it, I had already booked the day I was going to perform it. So rather than confirm my acceptance of the shop on Kern's site, I went on Kinesis' site and declined the shop. I figured since I never even confirmed it, no harm no foul, right? Wrong. She issued me a flake citation. I didn't think you could get those unless you canceled less than 24 hours in advance or didnt do the shop at all.

To be honest, in my experience none of the Kern schedulers are very good, but most are mediocre at best or incompetent at worst. None are outright nasty like Barb. I kinda wonder why MSCs use Kern at all when there are so many better scheduling companies out there...
