Rejected shop, Accepted video

Nycrocks

That's standard with any shop. Some clients will find a reason to not accept it and we have to just do our best when we go out there.

nycrocks,
Virtually all shops where the shopper is IDed are rejected and not paid, video or not.

And, yes, video with a short written report can be very well paid. EPMS video with a long report is the very low end of video apartment shops. Next week, I will travel 4 miles to do a 30 minute apartment video shop with a miniscule (8 minutes, max.) written component and will be paid $80. One of the reasons for the higher pay is that the video shopper has no where to hide any shopper mistakes; we are in the recording. So, we take responsibility for a near flawless performance. There's no way to fudge any aspect of a shop with a recording. And, no excuses for misreporting whether or not the target "hit their marks". You see, it is not using the technology, per se, that accounts for the higher pay. Anyone can use the hidden camera rig with a little practice. It is the "total performance" that accounts for the higher pay. And, that's just not everyone's cup of tea.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Walesmaven, thanks for the info. I have only been confronted and accused of being a shopper once by an employee and I still got paid. It was only $15 though. I just didn't submit the report because then I could never work for that client again at a different location. I would have understood if they didn't pay me but was happy they did. It's up to the MSC, I guess. I've had to foreit shops because of errors and problems before, and of course, I didn't expect to be paid. It is SO easy to forget something or miss something!

I have to investigate video shopping further. I hear you that it isn't everyone's cup of tea when your actual performance is being critiqued. The nice thing is that it's not YOU appearing on camera, for me. Just your voice is there.
I imagine the company could come up with some money out of their own pocket if they wanted the video. Why expect it for free? The shopper's time is important and worth something.

Totally agree with this. If they want to learn from th video they should pay for it.

Infact after rejecting the shop and then asking for the video without pay sounds very shady.

If you ran a business and had a moral compass you would at least offer a small amount to the shopper after you know they are not getting paid.
