What I would really, really like to post to my FB Page

I would like to take the opportunity to thank my family, my friends, my acquaintances and my enemies for this opportunity to come out....

I am a Mystery Shopper.

we are the shadows of the internet. Only known to each other as monikers, we communicate with a shared experience. While we reveal in the deals we get, the skills we acquire, making our college degrees pay for itself, we strive for professionalism.

Yet we strive in anonymity. We are like Seal Team 6. Ok, I exaggerate a little (if you read some of the experiences of my comrades they seem to find the, "Afghan type of shops" in their endeavors. So maybe not me, but there is an anonymous Mystery Shopper who is on par with these heroes.

So I propose a statue. To them, the "Unknown Mystery Shopper"!

I am a Mystery Shopper and a Vet. Comparing Mystery Shoppers to Military Units and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is in poor taste. I would prefer you not make this comparison anywhere...

Sorry, I respect your service, but comparisons can and will be made, so long as they are not portrayed as equivalent. I have 70 ex-elite services vets that I have em-placed in Costa Rica because they don't fit in here.

I was a Patrol Observer for a study of police services. I was the equivalent to an embedded reporter. In some of the neighborhood I rode, I was under the threat of an ambush or sniper attack. Only for two weeks though.

It wasn't meant to be equivalent. But there are similarities. How long have you been in country?

Ok in deference to one of your valid points, I changed a word from, "memorial" to "statue". Your point on this one is understandable.

I suspect that mrcomputer has called this his country all his life but probably spent part of it overseas in service of his country.
Jake, you are right on the mark.

That said, when it comes to our military veterans even I draw the line.

I agree but I personally didn't find it in poor taste.

That, by the way, has nothing to do with my original post. The OP could have been more offensive than The Aristocrats and it still would have been ironic that mrcomputerhead complained about someone posting in poor taste.

Now we resort to name calling, huh BG?

HA! That totally made the immature child in me laugh. His mom can't run. She's so fat when she cuts her leg gravy pours out.
And he immediately proves my point.

Oh my God, this thread.

Can we all just agree not to be overly sensitive about anything anymore ever? Whosear tried to make a joke that obviously didn't connect. People make jokes all the time. It was clearly not meant to be disrespectful to anyone. Why do we have to make a big deal out of everything? So, it's funny when the joke is about some other group of people, but when it pertains to your group it's suddenly a problem?

Lighten up, seriously.

So comparing mystery shopping with military service in an attempt to be witty and funny is somehow bullying? Your kids school must love you.

We live in a no bully school district.
No adult bullying, no student bullying.
Hopefully that will pass to the employment world. And the soldiers that visit our school
fully convey that to the students.

""Bullying," some researchers say, has been misused and abused in the last few years -- too casually uttered about every hurt, slight and fight, too frequently used in place of "teasing" or "fighting," too often brought up before there's proof it happened.

The very word, some say, has been bullied."

Good GOD... I can't STAND when the word "bully" or "abuse" are so mis-used. It seriously cheapens the real thing. Holy cow. A joke in poor taste is NOT bullying nor abusive. Good Lord!

Can someone please point out specifically where the "bullying" is occurring?

Just because someone calls you out as a needlessly hypersensitive, whiny, know-it-all doesn't meant you're being bullied. It means you're being a needlessly hypersensitive, whiny, know-it-all.

Consenting adults having spirited discussions and arguments are not being bullied. The victim of a bully is helpless and feels they have no options. Please tell me how that applies to anything on this forum.

I love it when schedulers, editors and MSC owners pay us a visit. I think they are smart enough to figure out when some of us are being sarcastic or just messin' with each other as opposed to the posters who are just angry at that own lives and always have something negative to say. Eventually they will shoot themselves in the foot. {tick, tock, tick, tock}

Sorry for the ruckus. While my joke didn't connect, there are points that we do an anonymous job and communicate with anonymous strangers who have something in common that we can't really crow about.

This is what interested me.

I guess the subject of "bullying" on this forum might belong in a seperate thread, but I do think it's worth thoughtful discussion here as we distinguish between "bullying", "personal attacks" and simply heated "differences of opinion". I have noted an increase of "name calling" over the last few months and find it counterproductive to the mission of this forum.
