Re: Most liked shops and why

I was wondering why no one mentioned these. My fav shop ever. I get paid like 50 per hour when they're bonused. I really hated that I look like a bad money manager as well. I don't overdraft, give the bank free money???? Nah!

You don't actually get to buy the comic books 99 times out of 100. Plus the rotation on the shop is never again. And it doesn't pay well. And it's not a very common shop so it's very possible you are signed up with the company, it's a big one, and just haven't seen them because they don't have it in your area.

How come you don't get to buy the comic books? I've seen them listed on one job board--one right down the street from me that I might pick up this week. It says there is reimbursement for a purchase. I haven't really looked into the shop but I used to read Archie comic books with my friends growing up-might get one for old times sake!

The shop is the day before the comic books are released. The purpose is to see if the shop will sell them the day before they're supposed to. They almost never do. Also these are not old style comic books, they're more graphic novels.

And you definitely don't get to choose your own comic book--it would be the predetermined one that they're testing for.
Mainly filler shops the comic book ones. And yes 99 out of hundred never a purchase. And at normal rate of $6 not worth it. But I get them bonus rate of $10 so if on route they work. Shopper rotation 999 days or 2.73 years. They must really know there mystery shoppers lol.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
The shopper rotation is actually never. Sassie will just only let them put in 999. Once you do a location, you cannot do it again.

Comic book assignments through Intelli-shop are not worth the paltry fee. I've never actually been able to purchase the comic book.

The report is extremely easy, and the visit is short. I would suggest that you watch for the shop to be bonused. Since you can only do it once per location, hold out for a little more money.

(I'll confess that I only became interested in doing them, once I realized that I probably wasn't going to be buying the comic book. Narrow-minded of me!)

By the way, note that the instructions, unless they've changed, specifically tell you not to use a 'scenario' where you want to buy the book as a gift. They know us too well!
I've done that shop, I'm well over 50, but pretend I am shopping for my son. When I walk up to the door, the kids part like the Red Sea and disappear. I don't know where they went, but I never saw them while I was in the area. I also got a look of over the shoulder looks from the game players.
My favorite shop has a low fee but the best tacos I have ever had - I am not talking Jack in the Box. Easy report and good food - I love Rubios.
I picked up one of these for next week grinning smiley. I'll see how it goes. I can get pretty creative in my stories but I'm thinking something along the lines of using it in the classroom grinning smiley...depending on the actual comic book (graphic novel).

I recommend just not saying anything. You want it, because you want it. Remember, you're interested in this very latest one that's not out yet. If you were going to use it in the classroom, it wouldn't matter if you got last week's one.
You guys are making me jealous!! I have signed up for about 50 MSCs thus far, and am doing mostly grocery and FF, with an odd retailer thrown in every now and then. I like the USPS but I had to stop 'cause I ran out of money! The shopper reimbursement is too high, I can't afford it. Same with FF and groceries right now, I'm dead in the water waiting for my first payments to start trickling in. That's the hardest part for me. We live on so little already, that any outlay on my part is a real sacrifice. So, I'm sticking to no purchase shops for a couple of weeks, and there are very few of those here. I did one yesterday at an ATV dealer, and today I'm doing a grocery audit.

What I'm finding so far is that I'm doing full time work for part time pay. The "independent" part of independent contractor makes it worthwhile though . . . I think! ;-)

Tracey
Bar shops are the best the pay is usually plenty for food and drink and I sit at the bar for an hour either by myself or a friend and then write up what I saw, I would do these 4-5 times a week if I could. Usual pay is 30-40 bucks on top of the nice night out.
My favorite shop is a local restaurant (non-chain). The reimbursement covers the meal, tip, and it pays $10 cash (although they always bonus me another $5). It also has the shortest report ever. Three minutes or less. Imagine, a restaurant shop with NO narrative! Absolutely love this shop. smiling smiley
Hymnsinger--I'd suggest doing some car shops with Intelli-shop or Best Mark. The reports are long but Best Mark pays every 2 weeks so you could get some cash flowing and you don't have to spend anything other than gas money.

I did my comic book shop---easiest shop ever grinning smiley. Report was a little on the long side but the shop itself took 5 minutes grinning smiley. It's already been graded (10) grinning smiley.
One of the ones I did, when I asked for the 'New Releases' since I couldn't find the section on my own, one of the guys there told me where the new release DVD's were. I said, "No, the comic books!" The other guy said, winking at me, "I *knew* she looked cool!" Ha!!!

I actually felt a bit flattered! smiling smiley

Hymnsinger, look into the bank shops on Maritz. They require no cash outlay and are quick and easy. Also, there are some gas stations too that do require purchase but it is gas so you have to get it anyway.

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.
Sandra Sue, you wrote: Then I write an essay to explain answers, such as employee courtesy, taste of food, condition of restroom, cobwebs, violation of Disability Act, and whether the pumps are working.

My current mission outside of myst shopping, is to call attention to the stores, such as Dollar General which are not in compliance with the Disability Act. I also have received a large packet from the Justice Department, so that I can file complaints against retail stores which include the majority of the blue & white gas stations.

When I was wheel chair bound a few months back, I realized frequently how these chains/franchises were not in compliance with the Disability Act.

Sure would like to know which company is now involved with the reports.
That sounds interesting, CotePony. We are talking about different projects, though. The ADA was part of the information given in my Urban Planning classes in graduate school. I never worked in the field, but was interested in the subject. The major was Public Relations.

There was a gas station near here that is part of a small chain that had the most convoluted path to the restrooms imaginable. I offered once to get some men to help a male customer in a wheelchair get through the door, but he declined. He said that he would try another store. This wasn't the first he had tried that day. After that, I periodically reported non-compliance in my mystery shopping reports of the store. Now they have a new building under construction. That is basically what I was referring to above.

I also merchandise. Sometimes I see product stacked against the exit doors or blocking one of the doors to the backroom. I call the city to report it anonymously. A company I worked with required me to be safety conscious for "360 degrees". I take that to heart. I am always reporting a wet spill at Walmart or telling children they can't run in the store (because the employees are afraid they will get into trouble, although some do it anyway). I was pleasantly surprised when I called the sheriff's department the other day to report a cow grazing along the highway to find that I wasn't the first caller, because I usually am. They were in the process of finding the owner of the adjacent property.

Since I am in the stores so much, I do encounter medical emergencies. If someone seems woozy in the aisles, I always ask if they need help, and I call a manager. My Red Cross certifications have expired. I am looking for a cheaper place to redo them. I have had one or another kind of safety certification my entire adult life. They have certainly come in handy. Injured people sometimes need help calling their kinfolk or having the purse watched or the car moved. I learned, too, not to leave when the ambulance arrives. The ambulance personnel sometimes ask for help steadying the gurney (I think that's what they are called.), and are glad to have someone else available, if needed.

I urge everyone to get safety training, either through a job, Red Cross, the American Heart Association, or whatever the state calls their training. It used to be Emergency Care Attendant for the lowest level I had years ago. Now, most ambulance workers are called First Responders and I don't even know if that beginning level is still offered in this state. I used to join the area childcare workers in their first aid class at the local college, but it was discontinued when the teacher left.
I adore the phone shops from CIMA. They offer several different brands, pay well for the effort and have short, simple, mostly yes/no reports. For that matter, their on-site shops are equally good.
I like any delicious fine dining shop and some casual dining shops. It's usually reimbursement only but I so enjoy the splurge that I work for.
I just did a phone shop on a hardware store. The person on the other end was friendly. I got to ask a relevant question about my own house DIY, the report was super easy and quick and it paid..only $7 but hey it took all of 10 minutes from start to finish. Next time I will pick up all of them now that I know how easy they are.

Shopping Central PA now..
