Part Time Shopper and Bonuses

Everyone always talks about getting offered bonuses, so this seems odd, but maybe because I am a part time shopper? I do pick up bonuses, but not very many.

Last month a scheduler emailed me asking me to do a bank shop for regular price at the end of the month. I said I'd do it for a bonus and they said they weren't authorized for a bonus. I just got another msc asking me if I could complete a bank shop by Wednesday and the price they named was the regular price. I emailed back, said I could probably do it by Wednesday if there was bonus. Was told that no bonuses were available. I've worked for both mscs with good reviews so it's not like I'm a new shopper with either, but I only complete 20-25 shops a month. Should I just chalk it up to being a part time shopper or do some companies just not do bonuses?

It has nothing to do with being part-time. I don't think any mystery shopping companies know how much we work, part-time or full-time. It has everything to do with just those particular companies not offering bonuses. You win some, you lose some.
I think Maritz has been cutting back on the amount and the frequency of their bonuses even at the end of the month. Last month, at the very end of the month, I offered to do some bank shops for them that were still sitting on the board. The team member said that there were no bonuses on them. I said something along the lines of it being the second to last day of the month so what were their chances that they would find another shopper to take these at regular pay. She replied with something like that they hope to get those locations filled but if they don't they don't.

This month, I was offered bonuses in the middle of the month and have been receiving bonused shops till the end of June. Weird, huh? Maybe they learned their lesson after being burned in May.

June is the end of the quarter. May isn't.

Good point, techman01. I didn't know that they were concerned about end of quarters.

I have shopped many banks over 2000. They always state that they won't give bonuses at the beginning of the month. All of this week should have a bonus. It does not matter whether you are part-time or not. I applied for a bank at the beginning of the month, but couldn't shop it until near the end of the month. When I saw the same banks with bonuses, I emailed the scheduler and stated that I should be getting the bonuses. I got them.
Hmm - these are with Reality Group and Bare, maybe they just don't give bonuses? Since I didn't name the client figured I could name the msc. There is another msc that does banks in my area and they always have bonuses.

I'm not sure about Bare but I have picked up bonuses from Reality Based Group before on several of their clients.

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.
Not at all, I always get a bonus on any shops that I'm contacted to do. I guess it depends on who you're shopping for.
I've only rarely seen bonuses from those two MSCs in my area, and they're usually small. Except a couple of times BARE has give a pretty decent bonus on some far-flung locations.

It depends on the timing in my experience. My fave MSC bonuses quite a bit of money at the last minute. If they call, I know I can get a good size bonus out of them. If someone bails on a shop is the best opportunity to get a bonus.
Location, location, location. In my area, shops are snatched up so quickly that many never see the light of Bonusland.

I've gotten bonuses from both those companies. Bare tends to lowball and it seems to work for them.

I rarely do a Bare shop non-bonused. They have one $10 shop that I will do if I'm literally driving right past but that's it. I've only done 2 shops for Reality Based so can't really comment on them.

And my prespective is the location, location, location one that stlive in fl has. In my big city on the other end of the country I see shops that are due that day with no bonus, just a help me please. The other day there was a lunch shop I got emailed about at 11 AM. for that day! No bonus was offered. The only shops I see bonused at all are those where the reimbursement does not cover the shop and then the bonus at month end is an additional $2-3. I actually had a call the other day and was offered another dollar up to a $4 bonus which I was about to take from her since she really needed it done and it was only a mile from my home when someone else grabbed it off the website! No loss to me as it will be back in a few more days.
Hi this happen to me, probably with the same company. I do lots of banks with them. They called me in the early evening and asked me to take a few jobs. I asked for a bonus and was told there are not bonuses at this time as well. Here is the funny part, the next morning I looked on the website all the jobs had bonuses attached and I self assigned them, plus more :-)

And now a word on bonuses

It is rare to see bonuses on any shops in the very beginning of the month. It is rare to see shops with no bonus the last few days of the month. In between is hit and miss with the closer to the end more likely to have bonuses. As you preform more work as long as its quality for a company you can ask and will likely be granted a bonus. There are shops I can ask for and get a bonus at the beginning of the month when they are released. I also can get bonuses if I take several of the same or if I am willing to travel a distance. In the middle of the month I travel most. Now there are some shops that just don't get bonuses no matter what. They are the same shops that usually never get taken or complete for the cheap ass client. Get to know schedulers and you can get bonuses.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.

Those companies both offer bonuses. You are doing the right thing if the regular fee is too low for you. Just hold out for an acceptable fee and if it doesn't come, don't worry about it.

Bonuses are offered or not depending on multiple factors. Many companies usually have a set pool of $ from which to offer bonuses for each client and/or perhaps each geographical area and/or each scheduler in each period. As the shops get completed without using that pool, they have more to offer for the remaining shops. Over time, schedulers know which shops usually need to be bonused to be completed. If the ones you showed interest in are those, they will keep you in mind and perhaps even reach out to you later in the period when needed.

Good luck.

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
I picked up some bank shops for saturday only because of the bonuses and when I was assigned the shops, the bonuses had disappeared. I had to call and get "supervisor approval" to put the bonuses back on and they dropped one down $5. I figured it wasn't worth fighting them on it too much. They acted like there never was a bonus amount for any of them even when I had an email as proof. I won't name the MSC but they're mentioned in the thread.
