I always invoice my whole purchase. I don't want there to be a question about the receipt total matching. I just put what I spent, confirm it and enter an explanation. One example is one of the gas shops. Reimbursement is $5 but I spent $56. It was the last shop from my route so I filled my tank.
No problem, I got the max reimbursement and there was no hold or question ever asked of me.
Don't sweat it!!
Another example is one of the grocery shops that I do (this is another company) and the reimbursement is $5. I spent around $140 and the flag came up asking if it was correct and what I bought. I just explained I did my regular shopping and made purchases in various departments through the location.
No problem or questions there either.
