Jiffy Lube shops?

Has anyone done one? What's it like? Easy? I do need my oil changed and this is a new opportunity for me.

They're simple enough. You're left alone in the waiting area while they do the oil change so there's plenty of opportunity to look at cleanliness, supplies, name tags, whether anyone is smoking or out of uniform. You have to check the restroom, so you can dash in there and write notes unobserved.

There are oil change shops that pay more ($10 versus $5) but they may not be in your area or with a company you're signed up with.

Be sure to use the coupon.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I've read on here about ones that are more involved. I think you have to watch them change your oil or something? Can anyone help differentiate which are the easier ones? I'm not asking for a name, but, for example, there are some where you have to use a coupon. Would those be in the simple or more difficult range?

In my area, Bestmark has partnered with several auto dealerships that offer oil changes. Most of those usually pay $20-25 and reimburse you up to $40-45. The reports are fairly detailed, but you have plenty of time to take notes on your phone and the pay/reimbursement is worth it.

Side note: Not in violation of ICA because I am not mentioning any specific clients.

Thank you everyone. I thought it would be ok to ask about the business since I wasn't disclosing who the MS company is. I appreciate your input.
I have done the Jiffy Lube shops 4 times a year since 2005. They are very, very easy and often come with a bonus, as well as paying the "pre-coupon" price when you use the online coupon.

You mean, you get reimbursed for the pre-coupon price, or are you accounting for the $5 shop fee?

I've done several and they are pretty simple. Felt like I got great service at each location. I was looking for one last week when I realized I needed an oil change, but couldn't find one. sad smiley
You get paid pre- coupon price. I've seen the Jiffy Lube with two different companies. One asks for more details than the other, although the requirements are similar. One of the companies has a shopper fee of 5.00. Another just pays reimbursement. I've gotten a link for a 9.25 coupon.
I am limited with BestMark because my cars are too old. Does the Jiffy Lube one have a requirement on how new your car is?
The ones I have done, the vehicle has to be 1999 or newer. Sometimes they tell you that if you call and they have your filter, you can do the shop even if it's older. The ones I have seen at dealerships have to be specific brands of cars.
Back in 1999, I got an oil change at Jiffy Lube and paid using my Visa card which I had not used in months. I filled out some info for them like my address and phone number as well. Two days later someone tried to buy a computer using my credit card. I was lucky the company called me with a question. I was able to report it and not have a charge on my card. When I was filing the paperwork with Visa, I also refused to pay for the oil change. Some people think that was wrong of me, as I did get the oil change and I should have to pay for it. True, but what I went thru cancelling the card, filling out reports at the police station, etc. I have never returned to Jiffy Lube.
Hmm, I have done about six of these, but have always been reimbursed the price after the coupon was applied.

The guidelines say that you get paid the pre-coupon price. When I put in the amount I paid after the coupon, that was what was reimbursed to me. I emailed them the two times that happened and they gave me the difference. Now I have learned to put in the cost price of the oil change, and I am always reimbursed the total amount. I do these shops for two different companies a few times a year.

OK, maybe I do them for a different MSC. I just read through the shop guidelines and no reference is made to the pre-coupon price, and it is not specified in the initial shop email either. The MSC for which I have done these shops has several different aliases under one umbrella--does it sound like the same one, just out of curiosity?

Someone asked for clarification.

Let's say that the price of the oil change is $40.00. I get a $7.50 coupon and use it. I am reimbursed $40.00 and get the agreed fee, which depends on the level of the bonus. I often wait until the end of the month and get a generouse bonus.

FrugalCat, did the police charge anyone at Jiffy Lube? The person who had your information there may not have been the owner or manager. I'm thinking that if that happened to me, I would probably go confront the manager. After all, if it was an unscrupulous employee who is no longer there, that person is somewhere else now. I'd like to know, if possible, who that person is, because they usually get another job rather quickly. For some reason, it's the law-abiding people who have trouble getting new jobs!?! What if that person got a job where you now get oil changes? Maybe you don't use your card anymore, but somebody uses theirs.
I just checked my confirmation emails. One of them says you will be paid pre-coupon price. Here's the quote:

" Shoppers will be reimbursed up to $40. Use your Jiffy Lube coupons and get paid pre-coupon!"

The other company does not write it in the email, but they require you to use a coupon and do pay the reimbursement of the full price.
I do the $49 shops and locally there are coupons offering oil change for $17.95. The msc pays me $40 and I report the difference as fee.

most all of bestmarks oily change shops are for car manufactures that I don't own :|
I just did an oil change through Circle of Service. About the same as Jiffy Lube, but lower reimbursement and better/faster pay. I used a coupon so ended up out of pocket $1.27, but pay was $15. I also like the 30 day payment rather than the 60-75 day payment for Jiffy Lube.
The Jiffy Lube shops normally require shoppers to download a coupon so that the reimbursement falls within the $40 allotment. Most MS Companies also pay a nominal fee. Given this, there should never be "out of pocket expenses" unless you opt for other services or synthetic oil. These are quite easy, but be prepared for the "upsells"...............always with the serpentine belt. This particular "upsell" sidesteps government regulations pertaining to suggesting services prior to manufacturer recommendations. Too much information..........apologies.
