Have you ever had this happen on a Five Guys shop?

The employee calls your number, but when you get to the counter they are still preparing your food and you have to wait? This has been happening a lot on my shops, and the one I did earlier this week I had to wait an extra 2 minutes after they called my number. I wonder if they do this in hopes that it will improve their timing? In each case, I stopped timing when they actually handed me the bag, not when they called my number.

I get all my timings from recordings so it would be easy to identify when I actually got the food, regardless of when the number was called.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Hmm. Guidelines state that we stop timing when our name or number is called. Yet, doesn't the report ask for timing to the point that we are handed our order? I haven't run into this, but if and when, I'm thinking I would report the timing of when my number is called. Then, in service comments, would report the difference.

The above hasn't happened to me. But, the opposite has happened. My number was called, along with numerous others, yet my order was not to be found as I stood ready to receive, with receipt in hand. Someone else was given my order. Yet, I have never been asked to see my receipt/order number.
I've got one on Monday... while this hasn't happened to me yet, I'll be sure to watch out for it!

That's crazy. I do one of these shops every two weeks and it hasn't happened to me. I would make sure to note both times- the time called to the counter and the time the bag is actually handed to me.
It's happened to me a number of times, but it's never taken that long to receive my food after I've been called. It's usually only an 15 extra seconds or so.
I just had this happen last night! It took 2:30 to get the number called. I then stood there for another 2 minutes...I was confused because they had more than ample time to get the food ready...i think they need to change the timing rules to when you receive it because i am not sure if the associates are trying to game the shop? This was happening to a lot of people.

Yes, it happened to me. I reported the time they called the order as requested in the guidelines and then noted the additional time in the narrative.

Maybe the quality is slipping. I've only had one bad experience out of the tons of times I've done them. That was because the fries were limpy and overseasoned. Thank goodness those shops for a while so those kinds of things can be caught and assessed as to whether that's a new pattern.
I just did one where I ordered a hot dog. I was watching them make it, and when it was done, the guy put it in a bag and passed it over. I thought they called my number then, so I stopped my stopwatch. But they really called 65 not 69. So I stood by the pickup window, waiting for the manager! to add the fries, which took 4 minutes and 45 seconds more! The. He just kind of grunted "enjoy" when he gave me the bag, with french fries pretty much everywhere except in the cup. I used the final time but told the whole story.

Thanks to all the forum members!
Usually there are no more than a few seconds between my number being called, the final scoop of fries being dumped in the bag and the napkins put in on top. I interpret the instructions to be mentioning your number being called because they are so worried that shoppers won't be ready to pounce on their meal as soon as their number is called. So inquiring when you get back from the restroom if your order was called yet and they hand it to you would not be a valid timing. I stop my timing when the napkins are in the bag and the bag is headed for my hot little hand. Maybe I'm not doing it right, but I feel I am actually doing it more right in terms of when my order is READY.

The one that posts it on the boards. If you look you will find it. DUH!
We do not want to make it to easy for you. We had to work to find it.
You got to do your homework.
It is to help, Nee-ko, but our ICA agreements with the companies prohibit our telling anyone who shops whom and the Posting Guidelines for this forum (at the bottom of each page) indicate "Do not reveal the clients of mystery shopping companies." This means that we can either talk about the client OR the company in any given thread but not both.

If the answer sounded 'snappish' to you, it is because we do tire of folks hopping on the board and asking who shops whom when we are not allowed to provide that in open forum by the forum's Guidelines and not by Private Message either due to Independent Contractor Agreements.
We can only hope that new members of the forum read the forum's guidelines and their own ICAs so that the questions of who shops whom do not arise in the first place because frankly none of us have the time to give an individual tutorial on the rules or basics of shopping.

Thank you very much!
I was starting to give it t more thought about the changes in mystery shopping compared now to the way it was done 15 years ago when I use to shop. I never had any one adress me in such condensending tones before.
Again, I thank you for being such. "positive" person!
When my number is called, the employee is standing right there at the counter, with my bag of food. So far, so good. smiling smiley

What did you order? You seem to imply that 2:30 is a long time. Hamburgers are not made until ordered so expect 6 minutes minimum. Hot dogs also made fresh and have to be split and grilled.

The last time I went was the first time they called my number and I had to wait - but only about 10 seconds. Guess they are trying to cut down THEIR wait time of having to stand there while the customer gets up from their table and saunters to the counter. I've seen that happen a lot.

NOTE: I'm not on the forum every day. If someone comments on my post, I might not reply right away. I've been a shopper since 1991. I've never done any work for a MS company in any other capacity.
