I have not had the opportunity to become a mystery shopper yet.. The shops are either too far or not worth the time .. But I am hoping I will get the right shop & make some extra cash...
Looks like most are having pretty good luck ,Which is promising...
I started mystery shopping the beginning of September. I have signed up with, around 30 different companies. I have completed 6 jobs. I have been paid on 2 of them so far. Waiting for the other payments. I found it very exciting. Wish I were getting more assignments. One questions of have is some of the companies when you sign up with them want your banking information for direct deposit. I have not signed of with them as of yet. Not sure I really want that information out there. Some of these companies are listed with the MSPA but I am still nervous about giving the information out. It took be awhile just to give out my social security number. It is time consuming signing up for all the companies. I am hoping that it will start to pay of soon.
I have been a mystery shopper for several years now,but with this company for a shorter period of time. My experiences so far have been successful.I have performed approx.500 mystery shops and am enrolled with numerous companies. The plus side of mystery shopping with this company is I am able to shop and dine out for free. The fee rate could be increased due to gas prices, but I tend to try to schedule several shops in or around the same area to help compensate for the difference.
I have worked as a MysteryShopper about 5years ago and at the time some of my assignments were clothing stores, car dealer shops, various fastfood places, and moviestheatres. And I was working as a mysteryshoppers at the time part-time because of my full time job. I really would like to get back working as a shopper now that I have retired from my full time job.
I completed a registration form and received various emails from Jan but I have not heard anything back re shopping so I cannot comment as requested
I am a relatively new shopper. I have been at it a couple of months now. I have done approximately 20 shops.
My experiences have been very positive, although I personally feel bad when someone has given me excellent service and I deny them their goal.
I find that reading EVERY WORD of the description on the shop is one of the most important things to do. You cannot assume that the instructions are "just like" your last shop.
I take great pleasure in securing high scores. Just okay is not good enough for me. I want 100%.
I am using my PayPal account as a cushion in conjunction with my Social Security benefits.
I will not be accepting low paying shops for fast food in the future. The pay is not commensurate with the amount of information that must be collected. And, higher gas prices are also part of this decision.
I have been working as A shopper for a little less than a year, I have found that the more companies you work for the better off you will be, I have also decided to get into the merchandising end of it and this is where your money is,I have been certified in mystery shopping as well as merchandising and I have not had to pay for any of this so there are companies that you can register with and find that they do offer you the opportunity to get certified.
I am registered to shop for several companies but you can not depend on them all giving you assignments first of all they may be in an area that they are not in a position to have the clients for the state that you live in or the city so they are not going to have anything to offer, second of all some of them are just out there and all they are doing is getting you to do the shop but when it comes to paying you, well it will always be that you did something wrong, people have got to read the instructions they do explain if you do not shop the assignment the way they have it set up then they tell you the shop will not be valid and they will not pay you,Please read all the instructions, also if they email you and tell you there will be a training session on a certain day at a certain time and you will need to call the number they have set up for you then by all means call that number and join in if you do not participate they will not call you for an assignment. I am doing great at this and I would like to see everyone do as well as i am doing but you will have to stay on top of it and this forum we are on can help alot read what Jacob has to say and he will help you, I have learned a lot from his emails and I really appreciate what he does for us, take mystery shopping serious its a job and you can make money and sometimes lots of it.Mystery Shopping is good but you have to work at it, I left a job I had worked for for over 10 years and I do not regret it at all. I just want to know what is up with the date on this preview. You are way behind time, don't you think?
I have been working since September 2006 and I have done about twenty(20) shops or more. I have enjoyed the experience thus far. So far all of my experiences has been positive ones. I have signed up with over 100 companies and still signing up daily.I am looking for high paying jobs in my area. I live in north Alabama. Please help
I signed up for mystery shopping in Sept., but have not been contacted for any shopping assignments yet.
I have been mystery shopping since May,2006, I've lost my job of 7 years in a unfair way, I got Fibromialgya and a boss that thought that I was only making excuses to miss work, even though I was the fastest worker (did the job of 3 people literally) and broke their production standards when I got the chronic fatigue for almost 1 month, she found the 1st excuse to let me go.
She was wrong, I was able to collect unemployment, I allways worked even as a kid to have my own money and it was very umpleasant for me to just sit at home and do nothing, at the same time I still don't have the feeling that I could last past the probation period at a job without getting sick.
My husband heard thec comercial about Mystery Shoplink.com and told me to call, I was not sure if this would be another scam.
To this day and even if I get a job I would keep doing this, the fact that I will not lose my jobs even if I find a job I will still do this, I have over 80 shops (not counting the ones I forget to put on my profile) and my latest job had a pay of $300.00.
I try every offer I get and if it does not work out is ok, I drop it and look at another company.
I canot say that is the way I make a living but is not because is not possible rather because of my illness that I can't make more money with it.
My level is now (Senior) and I guess it only gets better as I get more experienced.
I have enjoyed doing several jobs for several companies. I have traveled about 75 miles for a few. I try and group 2 or 3 together to make a day out of it. The BIGGEST problem is trying to accept one job and hoping you get another in the same area so you aren't spending your day traveling. SO far I have been paid for every job I have done. Some expect more writing on your reports than others, and the pay is NOT equal with the work required, but overall I enjoy it.
I have only been a shopper for a couple of months mostly small shops
I am signed up for 10 companies but have only worked for three of them. The better shops seem to be gone minutes after posting. I will hang in there awhile later.
I have been signed up with mystery shopping for a couple of months now and have only done 1, I have not recieved any payments and have not been contacted since, I would love a chance to do some more shops.
thanks for keeping me informed. I cannot reply as far as my shopping experience goes becasue I haven tbeen able to be ob any assignments due to m7y internt being down it will be back up this next week then i can start having the experience of assignments . I am at my sons school using the computer now. I havent been able to check my mail for about two weeks and so i am now so far I have counted 53 opportunitys for assignment in what mail I have checked. So I feel I will have many opportunities for assignements. Thanks again for all your valuable information.
I applied to become a mystrery shopper but I have not received any job offers. I to feel it is not worth paying money to get this job. If anything available in Ontario in the Mid West section please forward them to me. bhutchison @hurontel,on.ca Thanks
Have mystery shopped for about 3months and have done about 25 shops so far mostly fast food, ladies wear, pet shops, and theatre checks. Have enjoyed the experiences so far, but would also like to hear from the other companies that I have registered with. Have registered with around 50 and only get shops with 5 of them. Also, slow in paying, just got a check for 2 shops done at the beginning of Sept. Is being certified really nessessary if there is no actual shops in your area and if it is important if you live in an area that doesn't offer it how is it possible to attend these sessions.
I HAVE YET TO EXPERIENCE THE HAVE FUN ITS GREAT ATTITUDE THE PAY IS NOTHING THE WORK IS TIME CONSUMING. NO GET TO KEEP WHAT YOU PAY FOR ..
1. How long have you been mystery shopping?
Since June of 2006
2. How many mystery shopping jobs have you done?
Over 30
3. How many companies have you applied to?
I've applied to approx. 15 companies but shop for about 4-5
4. Is there anything you’d like to know that would help you with your mystery shopping?
Is there a website that you can spell check and grammer check or a certain program that I can download for free to help with that. Spell check I have but grammer check is not found.
5. Any positive experiences you’d like to share?
The checks that come in the mail is about the most positive experience. I am hoping to start an account with the $$ for big sale items I'd like to add to the house or a vacation.
6. Any negative experiences you’d like to warn other mystery shoppers about?
None really the only negitive that I've found is the long reports that are time consuming for some companies it breaks down to $2 an hour for payment. Which I wonder if its worth my time but the big payment once the check arrives is worth it.
I have been doing this for about 2 months. The offers are coming in,but some are too far for the price they are paying. Some of the payments have been coming in. Money is not great but it gives me something to do.
I had been with the mystery shopping industry since March 2006 and had performed more than 100 shops from different companies. I never missed any assingment and had submitted my reports on time, that is why the companies I'm working for assign jobs that I apply for. I always try to make a feasible schedule so as not to jeopardize my regular job. I enjoy mystery shopping although it is not financially rewarding. So far, I have no negative experiences.
N/A Assignments sent to me were already taken --what's up with that??

Have been sent many assignment, but again, they were already taken; almost before the message was received...

I have applied to 6 companies, only one assignment received, could not accept as I had another committment

So If anybody has any ideas on how to get this thing going, let me know.

I also agree with the surveys are time consuming and some want you to purchase "free gifts" and that is a scam...

So right now, I am have no opinion one way or the other, as now I am retired and would love to do this!!

sorry,Jacob, I lost my first note. I hope it came through. Thanks for asking. Thanks also for all your helpful hints. I haven't done many shops lately, but have another on Monday which I am looking forward to as my car can always use a wash.
i cannot reply about my mystery shopping experience because i don't have the means or a credit/debit card to sign up. it's very frustrating when you don't have those things and can't get them because you don't have any money witch is why i wanted to do mystery shopping in the first place. sorry, i'm at my witts end here. i have two small children and my mother in law that i take care of and this would be the perfect stay at home mom business for me because i could load every one up and take them with me or use this to get out to my self for just a little while and contribute to the house hold. let me know if u have any ideas.thanks
I have done 3 shops this month. Thats the total of my experience...lol I intially signed up with Shadow Shopper for $4.99. This is my trial month with them and they are really great. They send me lots of great opportunuties and so far the jobs I had last weekend have more than paid the $4.99. However, since I have learned that there are 250+ companies out there that hire MS, I think I will discontinue Shadow Shopper and register with those companies. I just need to find the time to do so.

I had a McDonald's shop last week and I probably will not do one again. That was through Gapbusters. They had me go inside and also thru the drive thru. The restaurant was not busy and the same order taker inside took my order outside. The look on her face was priceless - like I know what you're up to....but I never said anything and neither did she. I gave her a glowing report though. But the real reason I cannot do another one is the food is so unhealthy and I cannot eat it. They require that you eat all of it so you can make your report. Besides it only paid $10 and the meal was $9.75. I know I will be reimbursed, I just can't eat unhealthy foods. sad smiley
I did a lot of cosmetics lines at large shopping centres about 8 years, from a company in ALBERTA, then when I moved out of scarborough I lost the number/conection with her. It lasted about 11/2 years, and I loved it. the money was great. About $8 per jobstore/cosmetics line. then this past year I came across 'MYSTERYSHOPPER' through Yvette Grey and really busy for about 3 months about 30 shoppes, mostly in Pickering centre, then nothing! so this past month she has e-mailed me to let me know that the company has changed and is no longer whatever she was but is revamping and for me to keep posted and she will let me know. I would love to get into it again as a full/part-time thing! but the connections you keep giving me Jacob are not letting me in. so I hope you can enlighten me to a positive connection.
thanks
I have been mystery shopping for about 8 months or so. All in all I have had a great time and I belong to numerous companies. I plan on my day off to do a number of shops in the same area so that it makes my time and travel worth it. I have enjoyed all the compnaies that I have worked with but one that I never got paid from and they did not pay much for thier shops anyways but I would include them on those days. With the other shops I did it was worth it but as I said they never paid I do not work for them anymore. I do not pay to get jobs. All the links that I have been sent from Jacob have been helpful. Thanks Jacob
I have been doing well. I receive about 25 possible shops a week of which I accept maybe 8.
This is definitely not a career or a job which would be sufficient for maintaining a decent lifestyle but it is good for extra money and product discounts.
I applied to about 25 different companies and most of them have been good. My only complaint is that it takes forever to get paid and that's kind of hard considering out of pocket expenses.
I would never consider signing up for one of those pay sites. I get a ton of job assignments for free.
