OMG! Have you ever seen or heard about these kinds of shops?

Yeah, but it seems like they could get someone a little more 'official' then a mystery shopper to do the checking!

Sounds like a Coyle job?

Is this for real, or is the OP having some fun? The dozens I've done the owner or GM gives you a VIP membership using your real name before you go to the location and drinks were not allowed (not even a beer) except the drinks you buy for the entertainers which are comped.

This scenario doesn't sound right because when I did this I was required to bring a female with me. In the above scenario the client would never know if you could even find someone to go into a restroom stall with you.

The jobs I've done are contract-type and you get a flat fee and have to go over several times. It is true that the waitresses are usually the ones hooking people up and you have to tip well once or twice to win their trust, but $60 and you have to blow $2K doesn't sound true because if the client wanted to hire a company to do this job they'd go to whatever law firm represented them and an investigator in-house would make the arrangements, not a shopping company.

Also, the club managers know who the dealers are in their clubs, and they typically welcome them to the club because unfortunately many customers go to clubs expecting to find what they are looking for.

I did many jobs like this but not working as a video shopper. Also, the owners of the locations I do this at don't want anyone to be arrested, they just want to get rid of the employee breaking the law because they know that undercover police are in their businesses trying to find the lawbreakers, and if they do then the owner can lose his business because these businesses aren't popular in the community.

This sounds like a job that would be perfect for one of the video shoppers who shops new homes.

How about you plant some fellow mystery shoppers in the club? I'll gladly volunteer if they are in the DC area! And I'll bring some friends. =D

Chix, unless you give up the name of this MSC I say you just made this whole thing up because any company that asks you to solicit the sale of illegal drugs is asking you to committ a crime. So Chix, give up the name of the MSC since you didn't name the client to be shopped, and if you can't, then you are caught in the act of making this up, right?

There is no such job posting on any reputable company's job board because no reputable company would ask a shopper to solicit the sale of illegal drugs. But if I am wrong I want to know the name of this MSC and I want to see the job posting and description so I can find out if this is real. And if it is a real job then I will go to the client and offer my services to do this job the right way, and they will pay me 2k, not the MSC hiring a shopper for $60.

Does that mean you've caught a plane at Sacramento too?

If the objective of this shop was to try and see if a perverted older man tries to get it in with you in the bathroom I'd be all over this. The drug selling scenario doesn't sound nearly as fun.

Gee, you mean you haven't seen this on one of the 10 or 15 companies you have shopped for yet? And you actually think anyone here is going to give you the name of an MSC that has a job you seem to be claiming you have done many times before for $2000? If you can get jobs for $2000 why are you wasting your time with Maritz and Market Force and whoever else it was you deemed one of your "best" companies for newbies?

I'm sure the client you offer your services to will be duly impressed with the list of cameras you claim to own and your extensive resume as a "new" shopper.

And if they pay you the $2000 you think you are worth, are you going to then drop your own $2000 to grease the wheels so you can pull off the shop, thus breaking even and ending up with nothing? Did you miss the part where the shopper would be reimbursed the $2000? So the MSC is paying over $2000 already. Why should they pay you $2000? Or do you think they will pay you $2000 and also reimburse you the 2g's you're required to drop, making you a $4000 job instead of $2060? And this is going to be better for them ... how?

BTW, there's only one "t" in "commit." Be sure to edit that last post again.

Oh, and "asking a question about drugs" may or may not be "soliciting a sale of drugs." "I've heard it's possible to score some cocaine here. Is that true?" is not the same as, "I'd like to buy some cocaine. Can you hook me up?" One is a curious question, the other is an offer to do business. Since you don't even believe such a shop exists, why do you presume to know what the shop instructions are?

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I saw these shops too. They were down in Atlantic City. I don't recall the cash outlay was that much, but there was a drug aspect to it. I don't recall the MSC.
We have legal brothels here in NV. (not Las Vegas or Reno) They have menus like a restaurant... of their services. You must be a NV resident and prove it for their shops. I have never done one and do not want to, but that must be a hoot! hahahaha How do you know that the shop was successful...hahahaha AND, AND you get paid and the fee covered@! Oh, what a wonderful city! Nothing like Vegas!!

I love your combination of phrases. I am guessing you took a couple of old favorites, "taken to task" and "raked over the coals" and combined them into a new one. >> Politicians do get taken over the coals over sex. <<<
In Nevada you need a P.I. license to do mystery shopping.... in cases like this and Ive red them in NJ too they asking you to be more of security person, and I believe in appropriate pay for these situations, along with proper clearance certification....If it keeps up I will be demanding we unionize!
You don't need a P.I. license in Nevada. You do need some type of license and you work as an employee of the P.I. firm.

If I've coined a new phrase I hope to see it over and over again in the newscasts in the near future. Keep alert and let me know so I can make sure they attribute it to me. lol
Well, never having used drugs, or had a dalliance in a bathroom stall, I guess I don't speak the language. smiling smiley

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Sex in club bathrooms with members of the same or opposite sex is nowhere near as common as people sharing drugs getting high together. The latter is what the attendants are supposed to watch for.
