Where is August?

I took a two year hiatus from shopping, but now I've either forgotten a lot or the shops have disappeared, or I'm impatient? I'm really suprised at how empty my boards are for August so far, and it's just days away!

I think you've forgotten that most companies list their shops on the first day of the month, which is three days away.

No idea why this posted twice; usually if I accidentally double click it tells me I can't make the same post twice.

I have a full plate for august. I started doing my August shops this
past weekend. Never too early to get a head start.

Any bets on how long it will take someone to come along and jump all over you for violating the guidelines?

Same here, I have already scheduled my August, except for the last week. It always happen when I am planning
to take a break from mshopping.
I can't plan that far out so I haven't even looked yet. I'm still wading through desperation emails to close out July shops and I can't do any shops until at least Wednesday this week.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
And I have been shopping for a few months now again but august seems unusually slow slow far.

Sorry I made the mistake of coming back to this forum too.
I'm about half booked. The intention all along was to take at least a week off, maybe two. This week got so busy I actually had to push some shops into next month

Don't worry, I'm still going to have time off when you do.

Get a room, you two!

I've booked all my favorites except the ones posted by ICCDS, and it's a nailbiter to see if I get them. After that, it's sweeping up bonused shops for companies with weird deadlines.

dkk, I don't know what guidelines were violated either. Beats me. Why do you regret coming back to the forum? Is it because of the comment on the guidelines?

I think it was techman saying he had already started doing his August shops.

To clarify my guidelines comment was directed at tech and was a joke.

Hmmm..........the shops I have scheduled for August say they will not accept any reports submitted prior to August 1.

Just a few to do this week and then relax a day or so, I suppose.
No I just think half these remarks are cocky, snarky and add no value. And what one person considers booked might be child's play to another so I will quit wasting time here and get back to searching and scheduling.

I'm reading the comments on this topic and I honestly didn't see anything as cocky or snarky. Some people book lots of shops, and some don't. I only have 8 scheduled for August. I kinda enjoy the humor between LisaSTL, Techman01, etc. Don't worry, in a few more days, you'll see plenty of more jobs.

Congrats on coming back after a 2-year hiatus. I keep telling myself I'm going to take a break, but mine only last a week or so smiling smiley
I'm confused. The question was about August and we all have different levels of work scheduled. The jobs techman is referring were started on July because that's what the client and MSC requested hence my joke about someone accusing him of bending the rules. I have one "August" project that had to be started on July 20. It is due on the 3rd and if I waited until August 1 they would be ticked at me and worried I wouldn't make deadline. Plus I would be working my arse off for those 3 days.

I would consider something started July 20 to be a July shop. But I guess it's a tossup which month you would assign to a shop that takes more than a day to do and crosses the end of a month.

when I do certain bank shops for Maritz, they start with a phone call, then you have up to two weeks to do the onsite. They count them in the month that the phone call is made, not the month in which the report would be done after the visit. That's how I record shops on my spreadsheet, based on the start date. I guess it could go either way, though.

I have 65 booked for August, just a bunch of mickey mouse stuff. I said I wasn't going to work that much during the summer but I was able to pick up some recurring inside jobs (love that expression, inside jobs) as in think air conditioned instead of outside on a Texas hot lot. A few of them are stations I can do really early or after dark so I can avoid the heat on those.

Agree totally this thread has not been snotty or snarky in any way. A person saying they have a lot of shops booked is just stating facts, exactly that and nothing more. It's a good day when someone will share that kind of private information. The original post was about not many shops being available and where I am that is simply not true. If a person is picky about the type of work and refuses to take shops below XX dollars, then there may not be as much available. I am talking strictly about where I am and my situation will not be the same as yours. My take on this thread is people were responding with what they had been able to book in their areas as a matter of information and not bragging in any way.

What is going on here lately that the most innocent responses are being perceived as inappropriate? Are we in some weird phase of the moon or what? Lord have mercy, it's enough to make you get to the point you won't tell anyone anything.

It doesn't really matter which month we feel it should be, if the MSC considers it August, August it is. My invoice will also be for August, not July.

Surprisingly Los Angeles actually offered up a whole bunch of bonuses for the last week of July. I hope it is the start of a new trend. Bonuses in Los angeles! Of course I missed every one of them by seconds as they got pounced on by bonus starved anglenos.
FYI...I found out that August is in Osage County.
