Pizza bottoms

I apologize if someone has already started a thread on this, but I just had to get feedback. I did a shop last night at a new pizza place in town and part of the guidelines required me to take a picture of the entire pizza bottom.

The hard part is this: I had to EAT IN THE RESTAURANT! This pizza place was full of customers and employees. How does one discretely take their pizza to their table, turn each piece upside down, arrange the upside down pizza back in a nice circle, and then take the perfect picture without looking like a total freak?

I did it, may never do it again!

That's a new one to me. Are you able to tell us the msc or the name of the pizza place so we can avoid this like the plague? winking smiley
Sorry, but that is hilarious. Did you make sure to wear your, "Yes, I am the mystery shopper....." t-shirt?

Thank you for informing us on this shop. That helped me as I know which one it is. You confirmed

my suspicions and Iwon't do them either. I had thought they had only asked for 1 piece to be

turned over.
I did one of these. The guidelines said only a portion of it had to be turned over but the sample pictures had the entire pizza turned over. I was lucky and the lady right behind me (I did not know her at all and she did not sit near me) started asking ridiculous questions like what their name is, etc. while we were going through the pizza-making line. They totally ignored me "playing with my phone" by taking pictures of my food as I'm sure they thought she was the shopper. The only thing I can think of is that she was a shopper usually and somehow figured out I was and was putting a cover out for me to help me out. I also thought it was cool as it made it easy for me to simply listen to her for answers to stay secret.

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.
I did this one and turned over one piece only. The piece, if it is the same place, is heavy after adding all my fave ingredients to it. I took a second pic with the original turned over slice and my hand (in the pic) slightly holding up an edge of a second piece so they could see part of the bottom. I also put a note in the place before you do the questionnaire where they ask about problems asking them to change the pic in the example and explaining what I did. The other problem I had was it was a dinner shop and they advised not using a flash so my pic was a bit blurry as it was not full daylight. I mentioned this too.
In any case I got a rave your job was wonderful from them so I gather they did not mind my pics.
My experience the two times I've done this shop was the same as sandyf's. You only need a photo of a portion of the bottom. I shot one piece and that was fine. The demographic of this pizza place was young (next to a college campus) and everybody takes pix of everything, so someone doing a portrait of a pizza was not at all noteworthy.

No fee, no shop.
How about quickly turning whole box upside down, then snapping the bottom. Could be mutilated if not flipped fast enough! Or if inside get a spare plate put it on top then flip to see the bottom. If they just want one slice, problem solved...easy peasy and cheesy!
It is not really easy with this pizza as there are a ton of toppings that are chunky and the cheese can be a choice of soft cheeses such as soft goat cheese or crumbly so the toppings do not hold on by any stretch of the imagination unless you get the same simple pizza like pepperoni and cheese that you would get elsewhere. Personally at this place I feel you are wasting the possibilities getting a regular type of pizza. Each of my pieces wieighed a lot and I was not able to eat this pizza with my hands as the crust is very thin and the toppings out weigh the crust by a lot. My first job there did not require a pic of the bottom but I am thinking that many shoppers may have reported burnt crust as these are fired in a real pizza oven and they come out with quite a bit of black but that is how they are supposed to be so I assume they added pics of the crust as many shoppers reported the pizza burnt when it was not. If you have not experienced this type of pizza you would think it was burnt.
LOLOLOL The picture in my head of trying to flip over an entire pizza while at the table made me laugh so hard I spit out some of my peppermint schnapps!!! Have to clean off my computer screen now!
I aim to please! I love adding a bit of humor, wondered how many newbies have mutilated it by flipping whole pie at once, LOL! Schnapps sounds cooooool on these 100 degree days. One would think the partial photo of showing a slice or two underneath would be satisfactory. Perhaps the guidelines will have more clarity soon.

As a kid, I used to work at a pizza parlour and owners had us lifting up all the sliced pepperoni that would be in each crack with our fingers. I wore the gloves, but I often how many employees did not. Looked full of pepperonis when plumped up that way but not sure it was really necessary. They were smart to have special paper underneath between cardboard box to absorb grease and keep crust crisp. Plus the little "Barbie tables" (small plastic disks with legs) were used to prop up the box lid and prevented it from smashing the pizza when stacked with other pies.

Was this for A Closer Look? I saw a shop for them that looked similar. No pay, just $18 reimbursement :/
I was going to answer the name of the establishment, but the client has been mentioned. It is A Closer Look. The example pics show an entire pizza turned over, so that is what I did. Glad to hear they do accept one piece flipped. I took my daughter and we shared the pizza, salad and drink (I ordered water, she ordered a lemonade). We then went back and ordered a dessert to share. The report was a tad long, but not difficult. I will most likely never take this shop again. We enjoyed a fun girls night and ate at a new place. Please note, my daughter is young and does not eat much. Two adults could not share this meal.
Phoebe I thought their pizza was wonderful. I only ate half of my pizza and took the rest to work the next day and I usually have a big appetite. Unfortunately the 2nd shop I did they did every thing wrong so it took me forever to write the job up. I must have gotten 15 different toppings. You can get as many and as much as you like. They do not give you less of any one topping if you order more. I had several cheeses, two kinds of garlic (whole baked and crushed raw), several kinds of sweet peppers, olives, onions cooked and raw, artichoke hearts and many other things. I think my pizza weighed 5 lbs by the time I was finished. OMG it was great.

I found the service to be excellent, but the pizza was subpar. Every element lacked flavor, and I was really disappointed.
I just like that we have a thread titled, "Pizza Bottoms".

Made me laugh from the first time I saw it a couple days ago. How many other, normal people would have a forum with a discussion thread titled, "Pizza Bottoms"?!

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! smiling smiley
